A welcome to Tijuana

We were well looked after. Diego walked us quickly from our meeting point in the U.S. to the Mexican side of the border where Carlos met us. Carlos shared his knowledge of and passion for Tijuana. Besides buildings both new and historic, we had time to sample tequila, local sweets, craft beer and some delicious tacos. We also had time to purchase a few items to remember our pleasant and informative afternoon. Carlos looked after us well from start to finish. This was a great introduction to Tijuana and northern Baja California.

I had been to Tijuana myself a few times but wanted to bring my 14 yo daughter for her first time to Mexico and felt safer having a guide. We walked across the border and had a great day with excellent lunch and my teenager felt safe and well taken care of being in a new environment for the first time. Our guide was great and we saw many great spots downtown.

The reviews are good because this trip is a great idea. Yes, you will have to walk across the border. Yes, it may seam intimidating; however, you will realize that so many people do this, so just follow the crowd. Marisol was my tour guide in Mexico. We enjoyed walking around with someone who knew the area. We also enjoyed the lunch, tequila tasting, and her knowledge of the area. I recommend you book this tour if you are an adult and it's your first time in the area.

I really love I hear in Tijuana! Victor is a caring, kind and passionate guide, he is a well known guide born and raised in the beautiful city of Tijuana, I had a really good experience with him. Definitely will come back to Tijuana in the near future, it’s the best part of San Diego trip!

Tijuana Day Trip

First things first… most likely you’ll have to cross the border yourself, however, was easy peezy, no wait time. This was also a Tuesday. Locals do say entering back into the US can be a wait, but ours was about 20 min and may seem intimidating, but def not a big deal. I wish we were able to get our stamps haha. As far as the tour, Marisol was great and knowledgeable. She was a local herself, hence why we had to meet her on the Mexico side. Also, side note, there are a lot of people that want to sell something or ask for money, especially on the line back to the U.S., but just ignore them, they’ll go away lol. The more you engage, the more they’ll be around. Walking around the market was a great experience. Maybe a little more time to purchase and look around would be great. Candy store was also awesome. The local shops are quick to provide you samples as well. Tequila tasting was great; he was very welcoming and had great personality. We purchased a bottle of tequila as well as candies from the shops - you can bring many things across the border, just ask your guide if you’re hesitant. We ate at a taco spot that was awesome. It wasn’t the initial place the guide mentioned, but that one was closed due to weather the day before. But honestly, it didn't matter. Parking at the trolley station was easy and reasonable pricing - LAZ Parking - like a block away from the walking route to the border. Also, a currency exchange stand was right in front where there is no minimum! But a lot of the stores in Tijuana take American dollars and cards. Overall, I would recommend this tour.

We were not sure if we were going to include a trip to Tijuana as part of our USA vacation, with some worries about visa technicalities of getting there and getting back. So we thought that it may be better if we did Tijuana with a tour, to take care of some of our worries. We are so glad we did, we had so much fun and our guide, Humberto, was amazing. He was so knowledgeable on pretty much all Tijuana and also Mexican history. He also played translator and took us to some very interesting places that we would not have gone to if we weren’t on the tour. it really was the best way to experience Tijuana and Mexico for the first time.

It was a great mini trip to Tijuana. Definitely recommend if you're in San Diego and you have time. You get to try some new foods, drink tequila, and shop at the stores. It's a good, quick trip if you want to see the greatest hits of Tijuana but are scared to do it alone or just don't have a lot of time. Walking across the border to/from the excursion was a bit hairy, won't lie, but it was fine and it's mostly people just asking you for money, nothing dangerous. I would recommend this tour. Lots of great photo ops, too!

Had a wonderful day! Victor was awesome he was very knowledgeable and shared so much history with us. I loved hearing the story of Tijuana. Really opened my eyes to things i had no idea about Mexico! I enjoyed the areas that he took us to also. I would definitely recommend this tour! I will be going on another tour next time I'm in the area!
