Had a good day out
Laura_L, Apr 2024
Great day out on the lake to see how the locals live in the area. Our guide Friday was lovely. Hotel pick up was punctual in an air conditioned van. We visited a lotus farm, a crocodile farm, had a leisurely lunch aboard the Tara before taking a short boat ride around the fringes of the floating village as we were not permitted to enter it. We weren't too fussed about that though, overall it was a good experience to get a feel for what life is like out there.

Hi Laura, a big thank you for your lovely review, i will certainly pass on your comments to our great lake guide Mr Friday, thanks also for your participation onto our lake and floating villages Eco tour, as it helps create employment opportunities together with preserving the wild life on the Great Tonle Sap lake Biosphere reserve. safe travels always Peter
Very Interesting but short
Jaqueline_R, Feb 2023
The lotus as well as the crocodile farm was very interesting to see. The guide, Sam, provided a lot of information about the people living in the floating village and the tonle sap lake. The lunch was tasty and a lot. Other than that, the tour could have been a little bit longer. It would have been nice to drive to some more parts of the village or at least to see more of the lake.
Response from Host, Feb 2023
thank you very much for your lovely review, i also like the lotus farm and this time of year its looking good, yes understand about the time we do have longer tours that see more of the lake, so it all comes down to guests having the extra time, the tour you did was 10am to 2 pm but other tours start at 10am to 5pm, or another starts at 1pm to 7.30pm and includes the sunset, thanks again and safe travels always cheers
Half day tour

Lower your expectations and this was an interesting peaceful experience on the water. A little rugged getting on and off the boat. Lunch venue was interesting (on a boat). The people looked bored of having outsiders show up and snap photos and were picking lice out of each other’s hair. No one even stood up when I was looking around the shop... would I do it again? Probably because of the water..

This is the second time I have done this tour in 12 months, it was great both times. We were collected from our hotel and taken to the lotus flower farm. After that, we were taken to Tonle Sap lake to see the floating village which included the crocodile farm. We enjoyed a FANTASTIC lunch on board the Queen Tara boat, and then returned to our hotel. The guide we had was knowledgeable and attentive. The staff on the boat were great. I highly recommend this tour!

My wife and I quite enjoyed this leisurely half day excursion after the previous 2 full days touring the Angkor Wat and surrounding Temples in high temperatures and humidity. The guide collected us from our Siem Reap hotel at 10h00 and en route to the lake pointed out the rice fields and a lotus farm to our small group. We stopped here for a short time and watched in fascination as the ladies laboriously cut the lotus stems and drew out the fibres which are made into yarn and, ultimately, clothing. On arrival at the water we boarded the boat and made our way up a rather muddy and litter-strewn creek to the main area of the lake which surprised us by being so vast - we could not see the other side. It was interesting to learn that within a few weeks the lake would become completely dry until the next rainy season. We passed many floating homes, primarily occupied by people from Vietnam, and arrived at a large platform with a souvenir shop, cafe and, surprisingly, a pen full of good-sized crocodiles taken from the lake and used for food and skins. They were kept in a rather small pen which did seem cruel but, sadly, probably no different than how some land-based farmers keep their cattle, sheep, chickens etc. We then re-boarded our boat and set off to have lunch on a nearby larger boat, the Queen Tara. Our guide took our lunch and drink orders from an extensive menu all included in the tour price and, after serving the drinks, then went off to cook the meals! This is not a fast-food restaurant and we did have to wait for some time, but in comfortable surroundings, including a hammock. The lunches were very tasty and we suffered no after ill-effects! but some of our group expressed their disappointment at not having time to navigate other parts of the lake before returning to Siem Reap However, we found it very peaceful and relaxing.and, overall, an interesting and enjoyable half day.

We did the Floating Village tour on an 8am pick up. The tour said its 4 hours, but less than 2 hours was spent actually on the lake going through the floating village and visiting the lotus and crocodile farms. The rest of the time we were on a large boat on the lake for food and drinks. No one on our tour wanted lunch at 10am but our guide basically told us we had to. It was a weird time on the boat with no extra information about the lake or the floating village from our guide, which would have been good. Our boat was also really noisy and the guide had no microphone so we couldn’t hear anything he said. Not worth the money.

We had a great time. Our guide was very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed every moment of the tour. It was amazing to learn about the seed from its flower and fruit as well as the thread from the lotus stem. Lunch at Queen Tara was a great experience with our guide providing personal service from food to drinks. Its an experience that would stay in our mind :

This tour is perfect if your not spending much time in Siem Reap. We went to the rice fields and then to the lake. It was a beautiful sail across the lake as we sat at the front of the boat through the floating village. We then saw crocodiles farm, held a snake and had lunch on a nearby boat.

A nice tour, with the right amount of time to savour the scenes and hear about the local sights and issues from a very well informed guide. Well worth doing!

JianQing T, Apr 2017
Tonle Sap Lake is the seconde largest freshwater lake in the South East Asia. The month of April is the dry saison. The Lake is not beautiful at all, because the water is brownish and very dirty, the trash like the plastic bags and bottles were everywhere, plus the pollution by the tourism. The people live at the floating village is so poor. I can't enjoy this trip! We are the only 2 people at this tour, so this is like our private tour. The Tour guide, the minibus driver and the boat driver are very nice people. the Meal at boat is pretty good. On the route it was very hot, but we got our 2 cold water only at final stop.

Rebecca H, Apr 2017
The lotus farm was interesting and I enjoyed touring the floating village, although felt quite voyeuristic being so close to people's homes and the schools. Our tour guide was very good and chatty and answered our many questions, We would give him 5 out of 5, but due to how the animals are treated on the tour I couldn't rate this any higher. I did not like the crocodile / fish farm. The crocodiles are not treated well, they were kept in a very small area with many crocs and they had bottles in there that kids were allowed to throw at them with no barrier or staff stopping them to try and get them to move. Also there is a python is kept in a tiny box and was thrown from person to person with no instructions on how they should hold him properly. This tour is not advised for anyone who respects animals.

JENNYFOEI_L, Mar 2017
We had a tourguide that was locally from there, but he didn't have an uniform or tourguide ID. He was nice and caring. We understood a lot more from him about the poor villagers and saw how those people lived. We went on the boat to floating shop with real crocodiles and the floating boat to have lunch. A child accompanied us on the boat giving tipped massage services on everyone's back if you accepted. Not that it is proper, but some liked it. It was empty on the floating restaurant, which made it very nice for us to explore around on the boat. There were hammocks where we relaxed in while waiting for our lunch. The lunch menu was quite simple and the amount of food was just about enough. All in all, it was a nice day.

JENNYFOEI_L, Mar 2017
The guide may not be an official certificated guide because he had no uniform and tourguide ID, but he was nice and caring. He shared lots of information with us from this place where he is originally from. We had a good understanding of the local villagers and the boattour. The floating restaurant was empty and privatized by only our group, which was nice. There were hammocks on the boat for us to relax, while waiting for our lunch. The rice dishes were a bit too simple. Seems the amount of food was just about enough. We visited the crocodiles at the floating shop and had a child accompanying us for tipped back massage.... Haha, some liked it, but some didn't find it proper.

Out guide was very knowledgeable. We stopped at a lotus farm on the way and he explained about lotuses. We even got to take one. The floating village you see while passing by on a boat but the guide points all out. The food was good and we relaxed on hammocks for 30 min at the end before going home.

Experiencia muy bonita, viendo la forma de vida en Camboya, pescando te enseñan un criadero de Loto muy interesante
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Thank you so much Helena for your awesome review, thank you also for coming onto our floating villages tour and your participation on this tour has a positive and sustainable contribution to the continued employment and education of the villages who are so very hard working, and with the fishing stocks being reduced due to circumstances beyond there control we are actively promoting more tours into the floating villages and flooded forests to help sustain a livable income for the villages, thanks so much Miss Sreymom
Nette Tour

Sehr netter Tourguide, der sehr gutes Englisch gesprochen hat! Trotz Regen hat die Tour stattgefunden. Insgesamt waren wir sogar ein bisschen länger als 4h unterwegs.
