What To Expect

When you arrive at Night Safari, part of the same wildlife reserve as the Singapore Zoo, you’ll hop aboard an open-air tram to travel through the 98-acre (40-hectare) jungle park, subtly illuminated to highlight the exciting nocturnal atmosphere in which the resident animals come alive.

On the tram, pass by a large reservoir, and journey through habitats specially designed to simulate the natural environments of the wildlife, from the rainforest of Southeast Asia to the Indian subcontinent to the foothills of the Himalayas. Then take a walk along a safari trail with a guide, who helps you spot big cats like Sri Lankan leopards and a Gir lion. Stroll down the East Lodge Trail to watch for a Malayan tiger, spotted hyenas and red river hogs, and check out the Wallaby Trail to look for wildlife that’s native to Australia.

Your admission to Night Safari includes access to two shows, described below. When booking this tour, you also have the option to include dinner; see below for more details.

Thumbuakar Performance:

Watch a performance of cultural dance moves from an enthusiastic troupe of Thumbuakar warriors. You’ll be amazed by their rhythm, fire-eating tricks, flame-throwing demonstrations and unbelievable stunts.

Creatures of the Night show:

Journey into the rainforest during this interactive show that highlights the behaviors and skills of nocturnal animals like the civit, binturong, otter and more. Be wowed by the powerful jaws of a spotted hyena, and watch the African serval display its ability to leap for prey.

Optional buffet dinner upgrade:

Enhance your time at the Night Safari with dinner at Ulu Ulu Safari Restaurant, a 600-seat eatery with an array of local cuisine and international dishes. Enjoy the rustic-elegant setting, whether inside with its wooden accents and rattan fans or outside where you can listen to the sounds of cicadas, frogs and other nighttime creatures while Ankole cattle graze nearby.

A fun. close encounter

Our guide was well organised and it was fantastic to be able to skip the line. It was amazing how close you were to so many of the animals. The interactive show was also great. Definitely recommend this experience.

The tour organiser himself was very good, however we thought the whole concept of the night zoo most disappointing. I would not recommend anyone to bother with this.

We really enjoyed this activity, but felt little rushed, would have appreciated longer in venue to complete the walk around park- was really excellent tour though, only marked down for timings

A zoo

It was fun, especially the show. However most of the animals were still lazy like a zoo. It is another zoo where you're going to see animals at night. We highly recommend doing the train ride. It takes you through most of it. You can walk the rest on trails for if you want to see a specific animal or just walk around. They try to feed the animals to get them moving but the animals are still lazy and not very active.

The zoo is amazing but make your own way we were picked up nearly an hour late unfortunately the road to the zoo was blocked by an accident so we ended up having an just over an hour there so had to rush around & missed lots of the animals

Transfer Protocol Needs Improvement

The Night Safari Tour experience in general was very good (the tour guide was excellent!!!), however it started with a mishap on Viator’s part with the transfer from our hotel to the Night Safari location. Because of Viator’s internal miscommunication we had to take taxi and pay an additional $25 dollars out-of-pocket expenses to get there on time. Simply, because we weren’t picked up from the hotel even though we had a clear email confirmation from Viator several days prior of the event. We would still recommend this unique Night Safari Tour to anyone however with “a dose of caution” regarding the operation. Thank you.

Enjoyed the Night Safari - Not the Transportation

The night safari experience was great however the transfer to and from was lacking. Our pickup was 20 minutes late, and on drop off, the driver had to return to the night safari to collect people that were told to go on another bus. This added an extra 20 minutes to our journey, but also the driver was mad, voicing his opinion to the person over the phone, and he sped over speed humps and drove erratic after this occurred.

The tram tour was most impressive. A short walking tour to see rare animal was also good. The animal show was not so good. The food stores was packed with people queing to place order and it took 40 mins to get the dinner.

Average excursion to small zoo

Although we were picked up from our hotel on time, we then had to wait about 30 minutes for a feeder bus to join us, reducing the time available in the zoo. Travel time from the city to the zoo is about 40 minutes. The actual tram ride only lasts about 30 minutes and although we saw all of the animals, I felt we just wizzed pass them. It would be nice if the tram actually stopped at all of the animals for all of the passengers to take photos. How good a view you had of the animals depended on where you were sat in the train. The option after that was to walk the areas not covered by the tram. We did this quickly in about 45 minutes and it would have been nicer to do it more slowly, viewing the animals better if we had had more time. We chose this option over viewing the show. There was no time to do both. There was no time to eat as well. This tour would be better if there was more time spent at the zoo, enabling people to see and experience all the attractions at a more leisurely pace.

Your tour was booked under SIC - Seat In Coach which is a collective tour whereby we have to pick up other guests booked for the same tour coming from different hotels. The Zoo timing is also controlled by the attraction whereby we have to follow the amount of time allotted for the tour. This is for them to control the number of people visiting the attraction to ensure everyone has the experience. Their breakfast venue also depends on the number of people booked within a certain hour so we also do not have a control over the timing. We seek your understanding for the above reason.
Good but poorly organised

Enjoyed the experience. The only bad point was the pickup from our hotel. Told to be at pickup from 545 driver didn’t turn up until 625, meant we were late getting to the zoo - blamed traffic and weather - surely that’s a norm for Friday night so change your timings! Guide Nicholas was great as he managed to book us into later shows so we could still do the tram and walk round the zoo but overall was very rushed

Subject: Urgent Complaint Regarding Unreliable Service and Lack of Communication for Nighttime Safari Tour Dear Viator and East Tour Vendor, I hope this email finds you well, though I must express my disappointment with the recent experience my family and I had with your services. We booked a Nighttime Safari in Singapore scheduled for 6:00 PM, and your instructions clearly stated that we should arrive 45 minutes prior to the tour. Regrettably, our experience was marred by a severe breakdown in communication. Despite our attempts to contact both Viator's chat support and the East Tour vendor, we were unable to reach anyone, leaving us stranded without guidance. No one from your team contacted us 45 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up at our hotel, forcing us to arrange personal transportation via Uber/Grab to make it to the nighttime safari park. Upon arriving at the park, we faced another setback. We waited for an hour, and the tour guide only showed up at 7:00 PM. Shockingly, we were not provided with the tickets needed to scan and enter the park, adding unnecessary stress to an already frustrating situation. To compound matters, the tour guide did not arrive until approximately 5:30 PM at the hotel, leaving us with no choice but to leave in a personal taxi to ensure we made it on time for our 6:00 PM tour. This lack of communication and punctuality is unacceptable, especially when traveling with children in an unfamiliar country. I urge you to investigate and rectify this situation promptly. Such failures in communication and service not only inconvenience customers but also tarnish the reputation of your companies. Our guide was knowledgeable about the safari process - he got us in past the lines to the best seats for the show, and provided everything we needed to know to maximize the experience. Several of us opted for the safari trail rather than the tram, since it enabled us to see more animals. Although it didn’t rain during the tour, one should prepare for it. A thoroughly enjoyable experience!
Poor communication

Tour was cancelled. Poor communication from vendor regarding cancellation. Received email the day before the tour indicating the tour might be cancelled. They would notify me by 12:00 pm the next day regarding the status of the tour. They never called or sent email. I ended up doing the tour on my own. I took the MRT subway and one connecting bus. Less than half the price of the tour.
Rather a children's thing

The guide was really not good, and on top he kept disappearing when we were there. Suggest that you highlight this as a children's thing. There also was a short lighight showtshow with some people dancing with lights hat the guide insisted that we see before we got on to the tram. But we were ther to see animals, not people dancing for 10 minutes with lights!
