Overview

Western Norway’s Pulpit Rock is a towering cliff-plateau directly suspended over the Lysefjorden. Hikers flock here to dangle over the precipice and photograph the meandering blue fjord. What To Expect

Your tour begins with pickup from your Stavanger accommodation (if requested) or by heading directly to the meeting point. Meet your guide and small group and jump aboard your vehicle.

After crossing the fjord and a short drive to the trailhead, your hiking adventure begins. Follow your guide on a moderately challenging hike through an astonishingly beautiful and rugged landscape to Pulpit Rock.

Once you reach the top and have caught your breath, enjoy the stunning views and take advantage of the incredible photo opportunities. There is plenty of time to soak it up before heading back down.

After the hike back down, your tour ends with a drop-off back where you began.

Unforgettable experience, and so lucky with the weather too. Paul was the perfect guide, attentive, patient, friendly and informative. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone, I know the hike may seem scary but it is doable and the rewards are amazing!

Perfect hike with great guide

Fantastic hike where were we had a great guide. Most memorable were the views on top of the Pulpit Rock, but certainly also the hike towards the top with many great views. Early on the season is to be recommended as there are not that many people climbing at the same time.

The walk was extremely worthwhile. Although the weather was not so good, a little bit cloudy, windy and raining. The view above at the pulpit rock was extremely beautifully magnificent. Not only the view at the pulpit rock but also the view of the Fjord. Strongly recommend the tour.

The view is stunning, the guild is very helpful and friendly. It is quite a challenge walk for 4 hours with the stony hiking trail.

We had an amazing tour. The trek is a little challenging but worth it when you get to the top, although it was a little cloudy for us! The guide was friendly and informative and told us about Norwegian traditions which I enjoyed.

The experience was great. Since the beginner our guide was kind letting us store our package in the van as we have to check out that day. We had the time to admire the nature and take photos. We got an explanation about the ecosystem and customs in Norway. At the end, our guide left us in our new hotel. We are super grateful for that!!

Reaching the top of the trail was simply amazing! The view was breathtaking! Definitely worth the effort Our guide gave us advice on equipment and clothing for the trek and was very friendly through the whole ascent.

The hike during winter was very harsh with the extreme cold and snowing. Nevertheless, my family of 4 enjoyed the hike and the view from the top. Our guide Kent(hope I got your name right) was accommodating and waited for my 10 years old to keep up. Thank you very much!

Our guide Kenth was great. Very patient and knowledgeable about flora and fauna. He also had so many stories to tell. The whole climb was very interesting. The views are fantastic! The entire experience was great had a good time.

Great views during winter and great guide provided by Viator for this hike. Equipment needed for winter hike was provided, no need to have ours - it made the hike much easier and safer.

A beautiful hike made better by our tour guide Maximo. He was attentive, patience and communicative throughout the hike. Our group of 8 hikers have varying hiking speed and the guide did a good job in keeping a group pace while allowing each hiker freedom to explore. Maximo took interest and chatted with each hiker. He was also our photographer taking the iconic pictures. Maximo showed his guiding skills way beyond his young age. The hike sold itself but our experience definitely was elevated by Maximo!

The tour was well organized and the driver picked everyone up/dropped them off. However we were unlucky with the weather so try to plan accordingly when going. Go early in the morning to not be stuck with the crowd.

A place you should visit if you’re there

When we are going up is drizzling, the walking path is still ok, but when we reach the top, it’s raining, and when we come down, a lot of the pathway covered by small waterfall making the it more difficult and slippery to walk. In some area we need to walk thru small waterfall and streams, making the hike more wonderful.
