I had one day to explore Ybor City, so I decided to take the tour to learn my way around, and get a basic understanding of the city's history and culture. I enjoyed a five star tour. It rained, and I was the sole tourist on the tour. Steve was happy to give me a private lesson, and not only was I impressed, but I will definitely be returning to Ybor to further enjoy this wonderful and historically rich destination. This tour gives the perfect introduction to the development of Ybor, with quick but effective descriptions of the powerful actors that drove it's history, racial diversity and clashes between the people, unions, business interests, religion, and foreign powers, all while describing the background of Jim Crow, the Gilded Age, immigrant life, the depression era, and modern rejuvenation/restoration/re-imagining. On top all this, you'll learn your way around, and identify places to visit for further exploration/enjoyment.
Ybor City is wonderful, Steve is an expert professional guide, and there is too much to learn in a day, so you'll want to come back.

This tour is absolutely one of the best that I have ever been on. Joe was fantastic. As a local resident and historian of Ybor City he had a deep understanding of the area and important characters that shaped the Ybor City. His passion and love for the area and culture comes through during his tour. It is not only a historical tour, but also a tour that provides a deep understanding of the time period and the struggles of founders and their era. You will be enthralled as Joe embodies many of the main characters. This tour is a MUST for all visitors as well as residents of Florida. I would not hesitate recommending this to anyone. Excellent job Joe!
