- * Kaitiaki is the Māori word for the Guardian of the Environment. This is collected on behalf of the local iwi for their role in taking care of Lake Taupō and the Waikato River. This will be collected when you arrive.
Cancellation Policy
You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
- For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
- Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
- Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
- This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
- This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

We had a great time kayaking through the lake to the Maori rock carvings! The guide suggested double kayaks and matched us up for an easier kayaking experience. The waves got us a little wet but it was nice to help cool us down on a warm day. We enjoyed carvings and the tea and cookies on the stop

Great time and excellent service! My husband and I enjoyed kayaking together and the beautiful carvings. We also had time to swim. Make sure to bring sunscreen and water.

We really enjoyed our kayak trip. Laura was a great guide, showing us how to use the kayak and telling us a lot about the area and the birds. I enjoyed the kayaking and swimming more than the carvings. The trip would have been just as much fun without them.

We had a great time on the lake with Tammy, it had been awhile since we kayaked but the pace felt right and we could enjoy our time on the water. Seeing the carvings up close was quite something.
Afterward, we stopped on a beach nearby where we went for a swim and had some cookies before the paddle back to Taupo. 10/10 would recommend
