What To Expect

Your day trip will begin with pickup from your hotel in central Vienna or the Vienna State Opera. Enjoy a scenic drive with your guide as you travel through the Hungarian countryside before arriving in the country’s bustling capital city.

On arrival, enjoy the first impressions of Hungary’s capital, sometimes called the ‘Paris of the East,’ and magnificently set across the Danube River. The famous river splits the city into two districts: Buda, the medieval quarter, and Pest, the commercial heart. Hear how these once-separate cities were united, along with nearby Obuda, to form the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1893.

See top sites on a coach tour through Pest and parts of Buda, passing the Parliament Building and the Opera House. Admire the statues of the Seven Chieftains of the Magyars in Heroes’ Square, and the waters of the Danube River. As you travel from each major landmark, learn the rich history behind Budapest and its architectural gems.

After, enjoy a short 30-minute walking Tour through Pest including St. Stephan’s Basilika and Liberty Place.

Then, enjoy approx. 3 hours to explore the city at leisure, before you hop back on the bus for your transportation back to Vienna.

Bus was very comfortable. Tour guide was great. The local tour guide was helpful in providing tips and guidance as to where to eat, where to go during our free time. She was even kind enough to have brought small bills to exchange our euros for.

Beautiful sites to see
Cathy_W, May 2024
There is so much to see. Unfortunately it poured rain when we were doing most of the walking and free time. We were given a lot of time to shop, eat and site see
Great option for getting yourself to Budapest
Lisa_L, Apr 2024
This was a great trip and the transportation was very reliable. I would recommend it if you just want to get to Budapest for the day Claudia was our tour guide for the most part on the bus she provided commentary as we drove from Vienna to Budapest. In Budapest, we had a different guide who joined the bus while we went on a quick tour of the city focused on highlights and then that person gave us a very quick walking tour and some good wreck restaurant recommendations. The only downside was on the way home. We didn’t even make a stop and yet it took a really long time to get home.
Great Way to Spend a Day!

Very well organized trip to see Budapest. It is a long day, but the bus was comfortable and the information from our leader made the time go by. Budapest is lovely and well worth your time as a day trip from Vienna. Mary Ellen
Magical
Jaymar_Y, Apr 2024
The staff and the driver are marvelous. We booked this day trip from Vienna to Budapest. The place was amazing, magical and we were actually planning on coming back to Budapest to explore the city more. Eva and Flo (the driver) were so good of the service the provided. The amoint of money we paid is all worth it.
Back to Budapest After 40 Years
Mary_E, Mar 2024
I had made a number of visits to Budapest in the 1980s and had not been back since the fall of the iron curtain. Just being back to see the economic vitality of the city and enjoy crossing the Chain Bridge on foot was memorable.
Amazing Budapest!

Truly wonderful experience. You could not ask for more in a day trip. The rich history and beauty of the city captures the imagination. I would certainly take this trip again as there is so much more to discover.
Beautiful City - Language Frustrations
srb42885, Dec 2023
The time in Budapest was good - we were really able to make the most of our free time. Unfortunately, the bus tour is not the best as you do not get good views as you drive by (some sights couldn’t be seen from my side of the bus and vice versa). However, the hardest part was that the tour was going back and forth in English and Spanish so by the time you were told about something, you had already missed the site. The tour was good for orienting us though so we could go back and see what we thought was most important.
Not Worth A Penny
Ritik_A, Dec 2023
Started with the rudest lady who picked us from the hotel. The tour guide is not very interested and is very dull and boring. Too much of bus time and less on ground time. Totally a waste of money, can easily skip this one
Great day

The place was beautiful...
Mark_R, Nov 2023
The place was beautiful but the bus trip there was very long and uncomfortable as they were small seats
Nice basic tour - people are great- but the tour set up is lacking
Valerie_K, Nov 2023
The bus tour around Budapest was nice but the walking tour was about 15 minutes or less. Not ideal. Plus we did not get to do the castle- it was only a drive by so we walked there on our own. Really put pressure on our time there.
Excellent tour
IlankaBalasuriya, Oct 2023
The trip itself was worth every penny. Great way to experience this beautiful city in a short time. The pick up from the hotel was done sharp on time and the transition to the tour bus was very smooth. However the tour guid in the bus Claudia was something else. She sounded like she was talking to herself with no enthusiasm. Listening to her was draining. Once we got to Budapest we were met with another tour guid Adina who was amazing and enthusiastic and sounded happy to be with us. Information delivered about the city was great and the free time to be in our own was just enough. Overall if not for the tour guid we had to put up with in the bus, I would have given this tour a 5 star. Sorry she was just so uninterested in making things interesting and was monotonous and sounded more like she was muttering under her breath.
Budapest - Steeped with history and culture
MariaPaz_G, Oct 2023
It was lovely to see the Danube river and know the history of Budapest. We also took the Budapest Tower with castle tour and enjoyed it.
Not worth it
Luisa_P, Oct 2023
Too much time spent on the bus. Very little time to visit sights. It basically was just a panoramic view which you could also do on utube Not worth it. Too much time on the bus.
not very good
Charles_D, Sep 2023
did not like the bus. did not l like that it was not just in english. guides in the city took turns identifying sites. most of the tome we were past a site when the english speaking guard would speak. would not recommend
Good intro to the city
Claudia_A, Sep 2023
Hit the highlights even though there was an issue with getting on/off bus several times at the start. A good amount of free time as well.
Very informative guide....
Alokesh_G, Sep 2023
Very informative guide. Overall a good experience. Pick up was very helpful. The local gives were also good.
Power of the mic
Marlene_J, Sep 2023
It was very hard to get all the information that the guide was sharing as they were constantly looking to grab the mic to talk English and Spanish
Overall good, needs some adjustment!
Brooks_S, Jul 2023
Explaining things in two languages took too much time - once in English and then repeated in Spanish. Headsets would have been more effective. Otherwise the trip was good! Amazing city!
Worth trying for a short tour
rijul_m, Jul 2023
The trip was amazing However i feel 3 hours of free time was enough to explore atleast 1 side of the city, I Suggest the if the bus can leave later in the evening by 8pm so as there is no traffic and all the guest has plenty of time to explore atleast 3 to 4 places, Otherwise the trip was amazing all the guides were very informative especially the local guide ( I think her name was adi) .
