Great visit to the Dales

I would like to thank Trevor for making it a very educational and enjoyable day. We had lovely weather and as a photographer I could have wished for more stops as there were so many gorgeous locations we saw but I appreciate that there was a very full agenda that needed to be fulfilled and not everyone is a photographer. As I say Trevor was brilliant the breadth of information and the level of knowledge he demonstrated was just brilliant totally recommend this trip.

The beauty of the Yorkshire Dales!

Our guide, John, was an absolute delight, and a man who clearly loves his Yorkshire home. He imparted fascinating historical information to us, along with facts about the land and animals we were seeing. Our day was cloudy with fog at the top of the ridges, but it did not detract from this experience at all. Seeing film locations was also lots of fun. This trip was my personal favorite from among the 5 that we took on our vacation this year.

Loved seeing the Dales and learning about the area. Especially loved the Bird of Prey exhibition we were lucky to catch. Very impressed the driver could share so many tidbits while dealing with bikers, tractors and narrow roads. Highly enjoyed this!

A must do day trip

Our tour guide for the day was Ben, and I could not imagine a better experience. Very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour was a highlight of my trip and a must-do. We started with a stop for ice cream, and it just got better and better. The Yorkshire Dales is one of the most beautiful locations I have been to, and if I ever have a chance to return, I'd love to do it again.

A must do if you are staying in York

Stunning views

The countryside is absolutely stunning and a must see. Highlights included visiting the ruins of the old abbey, the creamery and the small church. The driver stopped for photo opportunities along the way which was really nice. Our group consisted of 15 people and everyone was very friendly. The downside was the tour guide expressed he was more of a bus driver than a guide and he was inexperienced with this particular tour. He got lost and made unscheduled stops so we got back 1 hour later than scheduled. Because we were off schedule, the last town we visited had closed all of its shops because it was after 5:00 on a Sunday, but we were dropped off for 30 minutes anyways with nothing to do. Ideally, the tour guide should know the route and be experienced with the history and current information about the Yorshires.

Some interesting stops, but bad weather can make for a long disappointing trip

We enjoyed the stops at Jervaulx Abbey and the Brymor Dairy. It was disappointing that we could not go into Bolton Castle, which didn’t open for another couple of weeks, but the exterior was interesting. The less than ideal weather reduced the ability to fully experience the views of the Dales. John S. was pleasant and knowledgeable and provided interesting commentary throughout the trip. As with many such trips, some guests don’t adhere to timings and talk loudly during commentary that others want to hear.

A lovely introduction to the unique dales of Yo

An excellent trip to the Dales led by John. He was very informative and fun. Knew reams of history and natural history and had recommendations for post-tour. The tour covered three of the dales and took narrow roads over the moors. The weather cooperated and our small group had a great time.

This was the best day trip we’ve ever taken. A sparkling clean and comfortable mini-coach and the most amazing tour guide! John S. was knowledgeable and entertaining, regaling us with a wealth of facts and stories. We saw so many places in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, stopping for lunch at Bolton Castle and its lovely little tea room (everything made on premises)! We thoroughly enjoyed the day, in no small part due to the amazing John S. And of course the fabulous scenery! Five stars, highly recommend!

Everything about the trip was great. John was amazing and informative. The only issue was the lunch stop. There was absolutely nothing to eat (cold sandwiches) and that was the only place to eat. Perhaps you can stop in another village which has hot food and some options esp for vegans ?

Beautiful

If you have only a day and want to see a good bit of the Dale's this is the trip. A bit more riding and a little less stopping to see than what I would have preferred but all in all it was wonderful. We had excellent weather and Trevor was a good guide. Even saw some Red grouse on the moor!

Our guide Lee, was very knowledgeable and also an excellent driver on those teeny lanes on the top of the Dales. We made several stops at lovely towns and villages and Lee was a fountain of information. Highly recommend!
