Rugby is more than a sport in New Zealand–it’s a way of life for many people. Visitors to the All Blacks Experience in Auckland can learn more about the team than they would from simply attending a rugby match. Guides lead visitors on an interactive journey through the history of the team and the game. Afterwards, enjoy the Haka Experience, where you’ll face the All Blacks performing a haka on surround screens and learn more about this important ritual. Then, have a go passing and kicking a rugby ball to compare your skills to the professionals’.
The All Blacks Experience is in the Auckland CBD and can easily be added onto an independent sightseeing tour of the central city. Tickets can be purchased online in advance to secure your preferred time.
The guided tour component lasts 45 minutes. The complete All Blacks Experience required roughly 90 minutes.
You won’t see a live game being performed at the All Blacks Experience, but you will learn a lot about the sport.
This activity is suitable for children but be aware that some parts are quite loud.
The All Blacks Experience is wheelchair- and stroller-accessible, and guide dogs are also welcome.
There’s an entry fee for adults and kids aged six and above; family tickets are available.
The All Blacks Experience is in the Sky City Precinct of central Auckland, near the distinctive Sky Tower. Many bus lines run through central Auckland, stopping nearby. Note that parking can be difficult (and expensive) in the CBD.
The All Blacks Experience is open 7 days a week during periods of school holidays. During other times of the year it closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Opening hours are typically 9.30am until 4pm, with the first tours held shortly after opening and the last an hour before closing.
All Blacks games tend to sell out well in advance, but you can often catch provincial teams playing in Auckland. Centrally-located Eden Park is the main stadium in Auckland, and the largest sports stadium in New Zealand. If you’re visiting smaller towns around Auckland and want to catch an amateur game, gravitate toward the town’s sports field on Saturday afternoons in the winter season.
