Falmouth trip ideas
After docking at the Historic Falmouth Cruise Port, most passengers head into town to explore the meticulously planned center, home to stately Georgian buildings and other historic landmarks. However, shore excursions are also a popular way to explore the island for those with limited time—opt for tours to Ocho Rios and Dunn’s River Falls, explore the Rio Bueno River, or learn about the lasting heritage of reggae musician Bob Marley, one of Jamaica’s most famous sons.
Historic Falmouth Cruise Port terminal offers everything from upscale jewelry shops to American chain restaurants and souvenir stores—it’s also entirely wheelchair accessible.
Keep an eye out for the stone cage in Falmouth harbour—it was built to hold drunk and disorderly sailors.
The port is the pickup and drop-off point for many island-wide tours.
The Historic Falmouth Cruise Port is located in the town of Falmouth, 18 miles (29 kilometers) east of Montego Bay. From the port, the center of Falmouth is within easy walking distance, although many shore excursions are tours which include round-trip transportation depart from the port.
The port terminal is open when there are ships in harbour, typically between 9am and 5pm although the bars and restaurants stay open a little later. The official currencies in Jamaica are the Jamaican dollar and the US dollar, while the official language is English. Don't be surprised to hear plenty of Jamaican Patois though.
