Top 15 things to do in ...
To provide luxury and relaxation for its guests, the Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat harnesses its beautiful natural setting. Guests can dine or get a drink at its fine dining restaurant housed within a 260-million-year-old limestone cavern. Villas either look out on the lush rainforest surroundings or are surrounded by the retreat’s lakes and pools. Besides hosting guests, Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat facilitates corporate retreats and weddings and provides extended wellness programs (up to three weeks) focused on diet, detox, and fitness.
It’s possible to use the spa and wellness facilities of the resort without being a guest by purchasing a day pass or day spa package.
Facilities provided for spa guests include bathrobes, towels, showers, and individual lockers. Swimwear is not provided.
Spa treatments require booking in advance and are dependent on availability.
Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat is situated near Tambun outside Ipoh in Malaysia’s state of Perak. Its remote location means that driving is the best way to reach the retreat, whether driving yourself there or getting a taxi or rideshare (Grab) from Ipoh. It takes roughly 25 minutes, depending on traffic.
With Ipoh’s tropical climate, you’ll find that visiting during the dry season—November to February—will provide the most comfortable weather. This time of year may not be noticeably cooler, but the less rain and humidity will probably be appreciated when trying to relax. If you’re visiting The Banjaran just for the day, it’s best to arrive by 10am to get the most from your day pass.
Wellness treatments and activities available at the retreat span everything from regular spa services such as massages, pedicures, and facials to more in-depth and comprehensive body therapy sessions. The retreat’s holistic approach to wellness even extends to personal exercise and training programs, including yoga, tai chi, Pranayama breathing, and meditation.
