Located in the heart of Manhattan’s East VIllage, Astor Place Theatre is easy to get to by public transportation. Subway riders can take the N, Q, R, or W to 8th Street or the 6 to Astor Place, both a minute’s walk away. Or, take the B, D, F, or M to Broadway-Lafayette, a 7-minute walk.
Typically there is an evening performance on Monday through Sunday, with additional matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday. Theater doors open 30 minutes before show time, and it is recommended you arrive at least 15 minutes before curtain. Large groups should plan to arrive earlier.
Astor Place Theatre is located on the historic Colonnade Row, originally constructed in the early 1830s as a series of nine connected row houses, of which only four remain. Designed in Greek Revival style and fronted by Corinthian columns made of marble, the buildings were residences of the Astor and Vanderbilt families and considered the most fashionable in the city. They were designated as New York City landmarks in 1963.
