Trevignano Romano is on the shores of Lake Bracciano, about an hour outside of Rome. Though there are regional trains from the Roma Tiburtina station to the nearby town of Bracciano, the best way to reach Trevignano is by joining a lake tour that includes transportation.
The village and lake are particularly lovely during the lush spring and fall seasons, but visit in summer if you are hoping to take a dip in the water.
One of the highlights of the village of Trevignano Romano is its 13th-century Orsini Castle, also known as the Rocca dei Vico. Not to be confused with the nearby Orsini-Odescalchi Castle—built in the 15th century and almost perfectly preserved—the Orsini Castle is little more than a picturesque ruin. It remains, however, one of the most panoramic points on the lake a the perfect spot to watch the sunset.
