When to get there

The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from morning until late afternoon.. Plan to spend 1-2 hours exploring the many different rooms. A popular museum, it’s best to visit during the week and early in the day to avoid the crowds. The building is also beautiful at night when lit up.

Located near the Alcázar de Colón, the Museum of the Royal Houses offers another good example of Spanish Colonial architecture, and was also built in the early 16th century. Comprising two connected buildings, it once held the New World’s first court of law and political offices, and today, contains a collection of Taino and Colonial artifacts.
