There is a significant charge to visit the Kemenuh Butterfly Park, though children pay half price and the ticket includes a welcome drink. You don’t need a guide to visit here as the friendly staff will answer all your butterfly questions. Still, many travelers choose to hire a private driver (or driver/guide) to accompany them to the butterfly park and then to Tegenungan Waterfall.

Kemenuh Butterfly Park should not be confused with Bali Butterfly Park, near Tabanan.
Kemenuh Butterfly Park is located about 6 miles (9 kilometers) southeast of Ubud, about a mile (1.5 kilometers) before Tegenungan Waterfall. There’s no public transport, but if you have your own wheels or a private driver/guide it makes an excellent stop on the way to the waterfall.
Kemenuh Butterfly Park is open from morning to late afternoon seven days a week and is rarely crowded. The butterflies are at their liveliest earlier in the morning. If visiting during Bali’s rainy season (roughly October to April), be aware that butterflies will hide from the rain.
In the Kemenuh Butterfly Park’s fascinating Pupa Room, the life cycle of the butterfly is on display. Staff collect butterfly eggs from the garden, which hatch into caterpillars, which then spin cocoons and become pupas. After the butterflies emerge, they live for 5–14 days before the cycle begins again.
