At the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, visitors can step back in time to America’s colonial era and learn all about the founding of the country. Its galleries tell the story of the war against the British Empire—and feature rare objects like a July 1776 broadside of the Declaration of Independence—while its film screenings (including “The Siege of Yorktown,” shown on a 180-degree surround screen with special effects) cater to visitors of all ages. Outside, costumed actors in two living history environments—one a Revolution-era farm, one a Continental Army encampment—feature daily demonstrations and immerse visitors in this period of time.
Yorktown is part of America’s Historic Triangle, which also includes Jamestown and Williamsburg. The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown can be visited on numerous tours, as a one-off or in combination with attractions like the Jamestown Settlement and Colonial Williamsburg.
Kids between the ages of 6 and 12 receive discounted entry to the museum, while those ages 5 and under can visit for free. Local residents also receive free entry.
