3 Days in Daytona Beach for Foodies

Curated by Nick Dauka travel writer and Central Florida native.

Daytona Beach is a popular spot for visitors and locals thanks to its many fun attractions and an amazing shoreline. You'll find it effortless to settle into a spot on the sand and grab tasty grub from any of the beachside eateries nearby.

However, foodies who want to really get a boatload of what Daytona’s cuisine has to offer shouldn’t be afraid to venture away from the oceanside. Interior waterways mean waterside dining in less crowded places while mom-and-pop shops deeper in the city serve some special takes on classic dishes. If you’re down to eat and drink in Daytona, here’s how to fill your plate in only three days.

Plan for warm sun and a cool breeze, the perfect setting for outdoor dining.

If you only have time for one thing, make it a meal at the circa 1940 Ocean Deck restaurant.

Day 1

No matter if you’ve flown, drove, or sailed into Daytona Beach, you’ll likely be hungry. Head to the boardwalk and follow your nose to one of the many seafood shacks—perhaps Mahi tacos at Sloppy Joe’s or clam chowder at Ocean Deck. Then, let a local Florida Man show you around on a private bar crawl.

The night is young! If you haven’t found the perfect hole-in-the-wall on your private pub crawl, try a group dive bar crawl where you’ll discover menus full of oysters, soft shell crabs, and greasy fish baskets.

Day 2

Fancy catching your own meal today? Then get up before the early bird to catch some fish. Head into inshore waterways on a private charter and cast a line for the redfish, a local favorite

Take a much needed afternoon nap and then head out for dinner by the beach. You don’t need a sunset when the East Coast will treat you to fire in the sky. Plan your dinner date at the Polynesian Fire Luau. This all-you-can-eat buffet is also a dinner show featuring fire spinners, dancers, and live music.

Day 3

With one day left in Daytona, you’ve got to get your fill of seafood. Grab your bib, your shucker, and your crab cracker for a salty seafood tour around town.

Want to see where those fish sticks came from? Head out on an eco tour via kayak and see Florida’s food chain up close.

Before bidding goodbye to Daytona, you should have time for one last meal. I suggest NASCAR fans head to the racing-themed Brickyard Lounge and Grill, conveniently on the way to the airport.
