3 Days in Fort Lauderdale for Foodies

Curated by Nick Dauktravel writer and a former South Florida native.

Fort Lauderdale is known as the yachting capital of the world, so you’d better believe that this city has quite the fine dining scene. Although you can find delicious sushi, seafood, and international cuisine along the shoreline and the riverside, Fort Lauderdale has plenty of places to dine on a budget, too.

Combine the Old Florida recipes you’d find inland with the upscale fusion foods you’d expect in Miami, and you’ll have just a small taste of the diverse menus offered in this city. Foodies headed to Fort Lauderdale should prepare to get their fill of salty eats and sweet treats.

Blue skies and warm sunshine greet you most days, so enjoy the weather.

If you only have time for one thing, make it a shopping and eating excursion to Las Olas Boulevard.

Day 1

Check in to your hotel then get ready to check out all of the foodie hot spots that Fort Lauderdale has to offer. Day one is an all-you-can-eat adventure, starting with a food tour of the city. You'll visit five restaurants, as well as Las Olas Boulevard and the Historic Stranahan House Museum.

A short and sweet cab ride from Fort Lauderdale proper to Fort Lauderdale Beach will give you time to digest. Hang out on the shore as you ready your waistline for an upscale food tour right along the coast.

Day 2

Day two is all about spirits, sunshine, and soaking up a good time. Grab a hearty breakfast with a view at the Sandbar Grill or at Tinta in the Westin. Just go easy on the mimosas, as you’ll be sipping gins on your next stop, a distillery tour while you mix, bottle, and take home your own custom-blended spirit.

Depending on when you visit, plan your oceanside dinner either before or after sunset—you’ll want to keep your schedule open for an evening cruise. Hop aboard a catamaran and sail the coastline, spying mansions on Millionaires Row and watching the sunset with Champagne in hand.

Day 3

On your final Fort Lauderdale foodie day, take a short break from the city and head next door to neighboring Hollywood. A water taxi will get you to and from your private sunrise beach picnic with ease.

After the sun makes its way across the sky and you’ve spent a little time perfecting your tan, join a Hollywood city food tour. Even though you’ll only cover two miles of terrain, you’ll eat your way through some of the best restaurants in this neighborhood just north of Miami.
