To make sure you catch all of the park’s highlights, book a half- or full-day tour; this is a great way to learn about the park’s wildlife and history, and allows you to focus on the scenery as you’re driven between sights. Tours typically depart from Jackson or Teton Village and cover top attractions such as Signal Mountain, Mormon Row, and Willow Flats. If exploring on your own, don’t miss the views from Oxbow Bend and the Jenny Lake Overlook. 

After checking off the best viewpoints, spend the afternoon getting to know the park in more depth. String Lake Loop, Taggart Lake, and Inspiration Point routes are great family-friendly hiking routes which offer views of Grand Teton. You can also enjoy views of the Tetons from the water during an afternoon float trip down the Snake River. 

Other options include fly-fishing, horseback riding,or cycling the paved trails that link Jackson to Grand Teton National Park and Teton Village. During the winter, groomed cross-ski and snowshoe trails can be found along the Teton Park Road.

For your best chance of spotting moose, bison, bighorn sheep, and wolves, book a wildlife watching tour, which typically take place in the evening when wildlife tends to be more active. If you’re visiting during the winter months, don’t miss a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the National Elk Refuge where you can get up close to one of the largest elk herds in the world. Alternatively, head out to Mormon Row, a historic homesteading site and home of the much-photographed T.A. Moulton Barn, for sunset. Conclude your trip with some western dancing at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar.
