The basics

While the Myilly Point Historic Precinct has four houses—the Audit House, Burnett House, Magistrates House, and Mines House—only the Burnett House is open to the public. Visitors can step inside the Burnett House to visit its museum and wander the grounds to see the exterior facades of the other structures. The historic precinct also hosts a colonial high tea (complete with scones) in the gardens each Sunday afternoon from April to October. Not many tours visit the precinct, making it an excellent way to get off the beaten path.

The Burnett House

The Burnett House is the only two-story house in the historic precinct as well as the only surviving example of architect B.C.G. Burnett’s "Type K" design. The house took damage from Cyclone Tracy in 1974 and was reopened as the headquarters of the National Trust in 1989.
