Taveuni

The basics

Whether you’re into tropical rain forests or tropical reefs, this Fijian island is packed with experiences by land and sea. A visit to the Bouma National Heritage Park offers hiking trails, cool waterfalls, and diverse wildlife (being home to more than 100 different species of birds alone).

For water play, head to the beach for world-class diving, especially at Rainbow Reef and Somosomo Strait, where you can get up-close and personal with fish, coral, sea turtles, and even sharks. The best beaches for swimming are on the eastern and northern parts of the island, including Lavena and Matei beaches, while the southern shores are home to caves and blowholes.
