The Freeport Perfume Factory is part of the open-air International Bazaar, a cosmopolitan shopping center in the heart of the city. Iits shelves come lined with island-based fragrances crafted by a small team of locals. Buy a bottle, and you might literally bringing home a piece of the island: scents such as Sand Cologne contain a bit of beach sand and Pink Pearl has a conch-shell pearl. You can also craft and name your own fragrance for a small fee.
Factory tours are available upon request—a few stairs make the tour not wheelchair-accessible.

The Freeport Perfume Factory is conveniently located near the Grand Bahama International Airport. If you have a vehicle, take the Grand Bahama Highway westward from the airport and follow signs to the perfume factory and the International Bazaar. If you don’t have your own wheels, taxis are available, or your hotel or cruise ship can likely set you up with an excursion.
The Freeport Perfume Factory is typically open every day of the week except for Sunday, with reduced hours on Saturday. It’s a good idea to check the facility is open before you arrive. To avoid crowds, come earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon.
Thanks to customs regulations, the Freeport Perfume Factory can’t ship to the US—you’ll need to grab your scents while you’re here. The factory also sells sprays, lotions, men’s products, and more; regardless of the item you choose, it’s likely handcrafted in some way and directly supports the local Bahamian economy.
