The basics

West Sea Grand Canyon is a hiker’s paradise and a highlight of Mount Huangshan. The full hiking route spans just over six miles (10 km) and takes six to seven hours to complete. Visitors with limited time can focus on the short stretch between the entrance at Dispelling Clouds Pavilion and the cableway station. If you’d like to visit the canyon with a guide, look for a tour of Huangshan that includes Xihai; these can range from single-day tours to three or four-day excursions through the park.

Xihai Cable Way

Visitors who’d like to see the bottom of the canyon but who might not be up for the hike can ride the Xihai Cable Way instead. This connects Tianhai Station at the top to Paiyunxi Station at the bottom (a hike that typically takes two hours down). The ride takes about 10 minutes and costs extra.
