Guests at Madinat Makadi hotels–such as Jaz Aquaviva and Sunwing Waterworld Makadi–gain free entrance to Makadi Water World, with regular 2-way shuttle buses. If you’re staying elsewhere in the Hurghada area, tickets are priced at a level similar to western water parks, although they do include unlimited food and soft drinks. There’s rarely any need to book tickets online but packages that include transfers can make life easier, especially if you’re coming from further up the coast.
Makadi Water World sits in the Sunwing Makadi Waterworld Hotel in the Makadi Bay resort area, about 24 miles (38 kilometers) south of downtown Hurghada. The big Makadi Bay hotels offer regular free shuttle services. Intrepid travelers may want to try to flag down the microbuses that run along the Safaga Road from Hurghada; others can book a taxi, join a tour, or hire a driver for the day.
Makadi Water World is open from morning until afternoon seven days a week, all year round. Hurghada winter nights can be cool but the pools are heated during winter, making the park usable throughout the year. The water park can get very busy over the major Egyptian holidays such as Eid.
Hurghada is a popular vacation destination for European and Egyptian families, and there are plenty of things to do with kids in Makadi Bay besides water parks. Take a horse or a camel ride along the beach or into the desert; explore models of ancient Egypt’s wonders at the Mini Egypt Park; or try your hand at snorkeling, windsurfing, or kayaking from the beach.
