At the Moser Glassworks museum, visitors can learn about the evolution of glass production in Bohemia through the centuries. Displays include examples of very old glass objects, to more contemporary and avant-garde styles. Audio guides are available, or VIP tours can be booked, for a more in-depth experience. Visitors can also tour part of the glassworks and watch skilled artisans in action, blowing and shaping glass objects.
Karlovy Vary is a popular day trip destination from Prague, and can be visited independently or on a guided tour. Tours typically include visits to some of the town’s spa-related attractions, too.
The Moser Glassworks is located in Karlovy Vary (also known as Carlsbad, the town’s German name), a spa resort town 80 miles (129 kilometers) west of Prague. The journey takes about two hours by car or bus. Buses leave from Prague’s Florenc bus station.
Moser Glassworks is open every day of the week, from morning until evening. The museum is open all day, while the glassworks is only open to visitors from morning to early afternoon. Visitors can’t access the glassworks on Thursdays. Karlovy Vary is an attractive destination at any time of year, but is especially lively during the week-long Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, held in July. If visiting the town at this time, book accommodation and transport as far in advance as possible.
