How to get there

From central Lagos, Kalakuta Republic Museum is a 20-minute drive via Bayo Shodipo/Ikorodu-Igbobi Rd/Ikorodu - Lagos Rd/Ikorodu-Ososun Rd/A1 and Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way. You can also take the Iyana Oworo - Ikeja bus route and disembark at the Balogun stop, from which the museum is a 10-minute walk.

When to get there

Kalakuta Republic Museum is open from mid-morning to early evening, Monday through Friday. The best time to visit Lagos, in general, is between June and August, when skies are generally clear, and the humidity hasn’t reached its peak.

A hidden gem off the Lekki-Epe expressway, this bustling center for arts and crafts exhibits wares from across Africa. Though busy, it’s well organized and is jam-packed with wooden sculptures, masks, necklaces, and jewelry. Haggling prices are part of the experience, and the best time to visit is during the morning to avoid Lagos’ notorious traffic.
