Named for a Las Vegas entrepreneur, Cashman Field was first built in the 1940s, but took its current incarnation in 1982: it was used exclusively for minor league baseball until 2018. The relaxed atmosphere, and quirks such as pitchside kiddie pools in summer and pre-game tailgate parties, give events a community feel compared to the city’s larger stadiums. The full spectrum of fast food, from hot dogs to pizza, plus beer and soft drinks, is available on match days.
A smaller stadium, Cashman Field mainly appeals to local residents, but it’s a great way for overseas travelers to get a feel for soccer in America.

Cashman Field is on Las Vegas Boulevard, off US Route 95, in northeastern Las Vegas. It’s about a 7-mile (11-kilometer) drive from central Strip hotels, and parking is cheaper if you reserve in advance. Most travelers drive, take a taxi, or rideshare: Uber and Lyft are the most popular apps.
Cashman Field is only open on match days—you can see all upcoming events on the Cashman Field website. An hour before each Lights FC game, a tailgate party sees music, DJs, stalls, kids’ games, and more, as well as appearances from the team’s llama, Dollie.
Sin City isn’t short on great sports venues. The 65,000-capacity Allegiant Stadium hosts the Las Vegas Raiders NFL team and University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) football, as well as the Las Vegas Bowl. The 20,000-capacity T-Mobile Arena is home to the Vegas Golden Knights ice hockey team and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) mixed martial arts events.
