Cidade Alta

Nightlife of Salvador’s Pelourinho district

Pelourinho boasts some of Salvador’s most atmospheric nightlife. Arrive in Largo do Pelourinho around sunset, where live music and capoeira performances provide entertainment while you drink and dine at one of the square’s restaurant terraces. Afterwards, follow the crowds to a samba bar or live music venue, many of which line the surrounding streets. Dancing continues into the early hours on Friday and Saturday evenings, but another popular time to visit is on a Tuesday night, when locals gather to celebrate after the Tuesday blessing at San Francisco Church.
