The biggest draw for many is Sydney Town Hall Grand Organ, which is the world’s largest pipe organ. Two-hour guided tours take visitors to see the organ and also include a look at Centennial Hall, the Lady Mayoress’s Rooms, the Reception Room, and the former site of the Old Sydney Burial Ground. If you just want to see the outside, note that many walking tours pass by the town hall. The hop-on, hop-off bus also stops nearby.
Sydney Town Hall is located in the Central Business District (CBD) at 483 George Street. It’s right between Druitt and Bathurst streets near Hyde Park, across from the Queen Victoria Building. Numerous commuter railway lines stop right by the building, at the Town Hall station.
Sydney Town Hall is typically open on weekdays during the daytime, and closed at weekends. However, the schedule can change depending on scheduled events. If you’re coming independently rather than as part of an organized tour, it’s best to call ahead for opening hours and specific tour information.
