En varierad rundtur på Lantau Island som var fantastisk eftersom vi bara hade en hel dag i HongKong Vi njöt särskilt av den stora Buddha- och linbaneupplevelsen med fantastisk utsikt (som inte ingick i kostnaden i turnén men värt det extra beloppet) Benedict var en bra reseledare

Det mest intressanta för mig var besöket på Big Buddha. Vår guide, Christine var mycket kunnig om konstruktionen, syftet och gjorde ett bra jobb med att förklara många av de betydelser som förmedlas genom symbolik på staturer och målningar. Fiskebyn var ett trevligt ställe att fota och förstå lite om husen som byggdes över floden. Tyvärr låg linbanan nere för underhåll men den borde vara igång igen i helgen. Sammantaget rekommenderar jag upplevelsen. Matdelen var också intressant och Christine gav oss ett bra middagsförslag för kvällen.

A wonderful afternoon

If you want to go by bus, taking a tour is very recommended. As a tourist, taking a bus to Lantau by yourself will be a big challenge. Amy, our guide is wonderful. She’s kind and attentive, and provided us with small stories and background of the place. We’re having a good time, and the dimsum served in the monestery canteen were delicious!

Great tour of quaint fishing village and beautiful monastery and Big Buddha!

Great tour with Christina! You take a city bus about an hour for the first stop. Had to wait for several busses (maybe about 1 hour standing in line) since a lot of people were going on that same bus. Some good views along the way. Some people in our group found the bus a little scary or maybe triggering some motion sickness since you are going fairly fast on winding mountain roads. But we felt safe with a good driver. Tai O was a very cozy fishing village. Fish balls were delicious! Unfortunately didn't see pink dolphins but had great views of the island and the bridge to Macau. Christina had a lot of great history and stories to tell. The Po Lin monastery and Big Buddha were so beautiful. She said we'd have a "light vegetarian lunch" but we found it pretty substantial and filling which is great. The food was so good! She had a lot of great information about the monastery and Big Buddha and answered other general questions our group had about things in HK. We then had some time on our own to go up the steps closer to the Buddha (or if you don't want to go up 268 steps you can shop around in the area). Gorgeous views outside and a lovely museum inside with important relics, writings, and artwork. Only wish we had more time to explore but this was an excellent taste of these two popular sights. Christina then showed us back to the bus stop and helped others in the tour go to the cable car for the return trip. By bus it's about 40 minutes back to the starting point or 25 minutes by cable car after waiting in the line.

Don’t Miss the Big Buddha Tour

Our guide, Grace, was phenomenal. She’s so effervescent and lively telling the story of the markets, Big Buddha and sites. Hearing about the culture and daily lives of residents was very interesting.

Terrible experience

This tour was a disaster. First it didn't say that the departure is more than half an hour away from the city. We had to take the metro as the taxi was over $100 for the six of us. Then the tour should have started 10:30 AM, and lasted for five hours, but it did not start until 11 AM. Nowhere, it said that it was made in public transportation, and in an endless line of local people going to the same place. At 4 PM we were still in the line that had about 300 person in front of us and we had to go back to the station get the subway back to Hong Kong and leave the hotel as we were flying back home that same day. It was really hectic. We were very fortunate to have Benedict with us that he spoke with the local employee for the bosses, and we were able to divide ourselves into groups of three and avoid the 300 person in front of us, nevertheless, we arrive to Hotel at 6:30 PM and we were supposed to leave the hotel to the airport at six which made our night extremely uncomfortable, stressing and tiring. We were supposed to come back from the tour at 3:30 and be in the hotel around four, but at four we were still stuck in that Public transportation line. I have pictures to prove it.

Visit to a small fishing village, friendly people. The big Buddha is a sight to see, and the lunch was far better then expected. But the real highlight was Grace, our tour guide, she made everything fun and interesting.

An excellent Island Tour!

We really enjoyed our tour to Lantau Island. Our guide Grace was amazing! Since we were staying in a hotel on Hong Kong Island, Grace was really helpful in providing information on how we could make our way to the meeting point. We loved the Tai O village - that was a definite highlight as was the Big Buddha and the cable car ride back to the Tung Chung station. It was a great day! Thanks Grace.

Grace was very informative and very helpful. My mother fell going through the turnstile at the end of the tour at the MTR station and Grace was so kind as to accompany us to the hotel to translate for us. She was great.
