We enjoyed all the places we visited. Getting to see turtles so close up was a highlight. Our tour guide William was very knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting information about the life and culture of Vanuatu and Port Vila. The snorkeling at hideaway was a bit hard to see as the water on top was murky but clearer if you could dive down.

Great experience, loved Blue Lagoon and Hideaway Island, turtle sanctuary needed to be controlled more and turtles given a nicer environment, away from people touching them and picking up the baby turtles!

Had some scepticism about this trip based on other reviews but here’s my honest assessment of what we found.
Pickup - was asked to meet at cruise port between 8.30-9.00 - our group of 10 were on the way by 8.45
Minibus/Potholes - everything seems to be minivan here and there are potholes galore but our driver somehow seemed to navigate through them
Tour Guide - Sharon was fun and engaging throughout the trip bovine us interesting facts about the island
Hideaway Island - we had 2 hours here, longer than expected. You need water shoes as there are stones and small crabs to negotiate your way through. Nice little visit, snorkelling was fine, take your own as there is a cost to hire. Underwater post office is quirky and a little rusty now but they never look like the doctored photos
Turtles - we stopped at the turtle stop for about 1.5 hours. BBQ was basic but again it’s not a cruise ship, just keep you going food. There was an opportunity to swim with 6 or so large turtles, 3 junior turtles and you could hold one of the 2 week old babies. There were also some iguanas and a parrot to see.
Blue Lagoon - had about a hour here and it’s a great spot for a dip and some jumping and swinging into a lagoon. Thankfully the health and safety police have not got to Vanuatu yet so you could claim a tree and somersault into the lagoon if you wanted!
Duty Free & Market - they bring you here on way back to ship. Duty free is good value and varied if you want that sort of stuff. The market is full of usual souvenirs and clothing, I think they do this to support the economy. You can’t pay by card at the market but some vendors take ASD and USD.
Overall I’d say it was good value, very happy we did it and enjoyed it. We had no issues with Hope Vila Tours, they communicated well before and during the tour and did what they said they’d do.
Was it the best excursion we’ve ever done? No. However would recommend and when we returned to ship at around 16.30 after 8 hours and all the stops we made I think it’s great value and you can do stuff they don’t sell on the cruise ship.

To start off the tour, we waited for a couple who were late to the meeting point for 45 minutes. They did not show so we eventually left without them. The day was pushed back because of this.
Hideaway island was our first stop. It was nice, although we were only there for about an hour.
The second stop, the blue lagoon was extremely busy and again were only there for an hour. This is where we had lunch too. Bring your own snacks or money to buy something additional from the locals there..
Thirdly, the turtle sanctuary ‘zoological park’ won’t be a place I’ll go back to. It was good to see turtles up close and to see the conversation efforts of the locals.
The driver took us to the duty free store in Port Vila which was an added bonus. Majority of the day was spent driving in the van.
Sam however, was a brilliant guide and very helpful. Thanks Sam for your knowledge and patience!

This tour was under whelming and didn’t deliver what was advertised . No turtle experience was done and we were only told once on the tour- went to a waterfall instead. Blue Lagoon was over crowded due to a cruise ship being in and the lunch was ordinary. Hideway Island was OK.

Firstly we were picked up 30 mins late, we were on the side of the road while it was heavily raining.we have contacted all their contacts from whatsapp, facebook messenger, and here in viator but didn’t respond until we message the viator support.
Secondly, we waited again for our lunch to be serve almost 45 mins. Because apparently this tour company was already banned in zoological(one of the places in the itinerary) because they have outstanding balance that wasn’t paid yet. As a result, this vila hope tours lied to the zoological staffs and said that we are from ‘happy tours’, so they can let us in.
Lastly, the driver and the tour guide was speaking bad about the other people on the tour, saying they were really demanding. It’s very unprofessional to here such toxicity specially we are on holiday.
This is really disappointing, and wasn’t smooth transaction at all. I don’t think the money we paid is worth booking this.

Turtle experience we were told was shut. Which it wasn't. So my 8 year old son didn't see turtles on his trip Which we had paid for. I asked at least 6 times what we would do instead of and wasn't given an answer.
We also was taken in different vans. I didn't know which one to go in. As my tour didn't exist. No help was given to us or anyone.
Tour was so stressful as I didnt know where we were going or what we were doing.
I want some money back. I told hotel staff so they could warn other guests.

Tour was great! Simon was our driver and he was fantastic. The tour does take the full amount of time as there is about 30 minutes or so drive between each location ( some roads are bumpy!). Also as a side note: Hideaway island is amazing……. But the beach is coral only, no sand. I would HIGHLY recommend reef shoes!The only issue we had was waiting 40 minutes for a couple that didn’t make the first tender off the ship, which caused us to have less time.
