amazing people with amazing horses

The area for the ride was so beautiful, right near an ancient archaeological site. The horses were so well treated and each one was stunning! They know so much about each horse in their care and will help you with everything you need. All the people were so kind and made you feel comfortable. They had some amazing stories to share about the area. Super easy to get too as well. Will come back I ever get to have another trip here!

Magical - Nature, Horses, History!!!

Magical- truly peaceful and jaw dropping beauty. I saw a fox, a falcon and pheasant. We rode through tall grass, fields with poppies and amazing trees. Alessia’s passion for the area and her horses is contagious. We learned so much about the ecological reserve. By far the best tour we had.

Amazing experience at the ranch, we groomed the horses and fed them carrots before riding on the trail. The ranch was beautiful and everyone makes you feel right at home. Extremely relaxing.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing and unforgettable experience at the ranch. Everyone makes you feel right at home. We started by giving the horses water and feeding them with carrots, then we groomed the horses and let them get comfortable with us. The trail was beautiful and so relaxing, I was able to take many pictures and videos. I would highly recommend.

This was the final activity of our trip to Italy from the states - Massachusetts & North Carolina USA. Our family of five with little to no riding experience decided to take one more adventure. It was a great choice. Alessia was a wonderful teacher and shared so much with us. We really became acquainted with the horses by feeding and grooming them prior setting out to explore. No need to have any experience riding because Alessia will help you get it right. To see the history and country side, outside of Rome was the icing on the cake for us. Following we enjoyed a fabulous meal at the recommendation of Alessia. Everyone is a friend in Ostia! Gianni was the sweetest host and treated us like family. The food & the wine were amazing. "Vieni da cliente e torni da amico" You come as a customer and you come back as a friend. Michelle

This was by far the best horse experience we’ve had in all our travels. Most experiences just show you how to get on and off of a horse. Not this one- you learn how to connect and earn the respect of a horse, how to care for them, get to know the horses and connect with them, learn how to respect them as well- it was definitely an amazing experience and Alessia was fantastic with both us and the horses. When we come back we would absolutely book again or even just visit to say hi and visit the horses again-thank you!

Alessia and everyone who worked at the barn were exceptionally kind ! I had read the reviews ahead of time and I made sure to ask about our starting time (10am) and after confirming it, there was absolutely no problems, in fact, I was the one who was 15mins late haha but they were very accommodating. Arriving at the train station, you get your choice of coffee and a cornetto for breakfast and then you are driven to and back from the farm. I was even able to borrow helmet, boots, and half-chaps from them. On the way back Alessia introduced the Ostia Antica region to me which led me to discover some of the most beautiful, quaint streets ever (even in January) and even visit a Renaissance castle, which I had no idea was there. They clearly love what they do and I was honoured to join their network of horse-lovers :)

Absolutely Extraordinary, Highly Recommend!

We’re a group of 3 American students staying near the center of Rome. We took a train and it took about an hour to get to the meeting point. The day started off pouring rain so we weren’t sure if our appointment would be canceled. Alessia sent a message around an hour before our appointment to postpone it 90 minutes and see if the rain would stop. We arrived at the meeting point (coffee shop), got the free breakfast and ran into Pietro, a volunteer at the stables (from what we understood). He offered to take us to the stables and we got to help him feed the horses hay. We also met 4 adorable cats waiting for the rain to stop. They were awesome. After the rain stopped we helped prepare 3 horses for riding by feeding and saddling them. After a brief introduction we rode with Pietro down the trail. It was extraordinary. TLDR: Dress for the weather, be flexible, set aside the whole day if you’re booking in advance, book it.

Unprofessional and wasted my time!

The tour operator cancelled 45 minutes before the tour started. They were aware it took at least an hour to get from Rome to Ostia. I left early to make sure I wasn’t late. After 1.5 hours of travel on 2 trains following the tour guide’s instructions (was not the easiest to navigate) I arrive. I check my email and the tour operator sent a message saying they “have a personal matter. We can reschedule to next week.” This message was sent at 9:11 (tour started at 10) I told them I had already arrived and was there anyone else? It took several days for a response but finally they sent a message saying “there was bad weather coming and they could not work in those conditions”. Don’t waste your time booking with this unprofessional group. They do not value your time or travel plans.

I read the reviews and was originally worried but the price was too good to miss. The whole experience was amazing. I have never ridden a horse before and leading up to it I was quite scared and anxious but the experience was so comforting and the horses and Alessia were very welcoming. We arrived at the Ostia Antica train stop and right outside is a small little local cafe. We were greeted with a kind man who gave us a cappuccino and choice of croissant, which serves as the breakfast . Hospitality was amazing! About an hour later Alessia arrived and greeted us; they let us take a quick toilet break if needed and she then drove us into the horse stables. She left us alone whilst she picked up the other member of the group but we were left in good company with a rescue horse, Santiago and two cats. Once the group was together we were taught how to make the horses food, which was a powder mixture with water and fed the horses. We all were encouraged to then groom the horses which was like a bonding experience to become more comfortable with the horses. Whilst Alessia saddled the horses we were in the shed barn putting on protective sock things and helmets. We then were helped onto the horses and Alessia took time to ensure we were positioning ourselves correctly and was in control. She did such a great job making us feel comfortable and made sure everyone was together and ok. As we’re riding the horses she also explains the historical significance of the spaces we pass by. She even allowed us to take our phones for pictures but also took some for us. She run the whole experience herself which was incredible and so well put together, it really felt like we were hanging out with friends. We then returned to the stable, threw buckets of water over the horse to cool them off and we released two so they could be free and return later. This was nice to see because it’s nice to know the horses are allowed to be free and that they chose to return to the stable. I would highly recommend the experience, it was definitely a memorable part of the trip as it allows you to escape into the countryside of Rome and be one with nature.

My wife and I were in Rome celebrating our 10th year anniversary and we’re very excited to go horse riding. I booked in advance a received a confirmation for 6/23/2023 at 10 am. Elissa advised us that the meeting point was at 10 am at a coffee shop called Gemina VIII right in front of the train station. My wife and I arrived at 9:20 am, 40 minutes early. We met with the owner of the coffee shop who was very polite and helpful. Waited until 1040 and still no one showed up. The coffe shop owner called Elissa and she advised me over the phone that she was running late because she had other customers and and would be picking us up at 11. One hour late. I waited until 11:30 am and still no one showed up for us. The coffee shop owner called Elissa and she advised me that she was in Rome stuck in traffic with other customers and did not know when she would be arriving. I told her Elisa that I had another tour booked for 2 pm and could not wait any longer. I asked her is she could tell me a time she would be arriving and she refused to give me a time. Elissa was very rude and was raising her voice saying that she was very busy with other customers and that this was not America. I told her again that I needed to leave because I had another tour at 2pm and it was now 11:30 and she could not tell me a time she would be able to pick us up. I told her that we were not going to wait and she began yelling “well I’m not giving you l, your money back I already called Trip advisor and notified them “ ( I booked on Viator) that you changed the plans. ( I never changed any time or plans. Liar). Do not book this place. They over book and leave you hanging and are extremely rude. Read the other negative reviews. It’s the same problem over and over. Horrible place and service.

A few things you should know

I am a US citizen on a honeymoon with my wife. My wife has never ridden a horse before; however, I can say that the horses were very well behaved on the tour and I enjoyed the countryside immensely. A couple things to say and thus the reason for my four stars. 1. As others in their reviews have stated our guide instructor was quite late; however, some of that had to do with quite a bit of extra traffic on the day we left. We did get the free breakfast though and I did not mind waiting at the meeting point. 2. Because of some other circumstances we did not have an English translator for most of our tour. My wife was a little skittish with riding a horse and so the translator graciously gave us her horse to ride. She then had to help out another customer. The man we rode although very nice and helpful, spoke limited English. Some positives were 1. As I said, the trail ride was very smooth and the horses cooperated well 2. We got to spend some time brushing and building a little bond with the horses before riding them. 3. Our host upgraded us free of charge and gave us a free lunch. 4. Everyone was very polite to us and some gave us tips of some neat things to do in the area. All in all, I would say this was a very positive experience.

Wonderful riding through history in walk on stunning horse. Very friendly and lovely lady guide. My recommendations would be from what I experienced. Collection from station was delayed and an hour late. No breakfast provided. So if you’re happy to accommodate a more relaxed way of time keeping - the riding is just wonderful and you’ll love it!! He owner of stables is lovely and knowledgeable- her heart is welfare and saving and giving these horses the best life. Next time I’ll ask to do a beach ride and she has studied professionally Buddhist meditation so she also offers this too apparently.

So I would have given five stars, but Alessia was running late. However, if you know anyone who runs a ranch, this happens. That being said, the horses on this ranch are some of the most gentle horses I have ever met. They are well taken care of and well loved. The trails themselves were beautiful and as a self taught rider, I don't have the best skills. Alessia was able to instruct me to make the ride run smoother. Plus, she took so many photos and videos for me!

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BOOK THIS TRIP! I am beyond frustrated and disappointed with the local tour guide. Despite reading the negative reviews, I foolishly thought that the positive ones would outweigh the bad. From the get-go, this tour guide was a nightmare to deal with. I tried to contact her in the morning since our trip was scheduled for 10 am, and she didn't respond until 9:40 am, telling me that she had to postpone the meeting until 1 pm. When I requested a refund, she flatly refused. Reluctantly, I agreed to meet her at 1 pm, and then the real nightmare began. She was 15 minutes late, and then she kept me waiting on the phone for another 30 minutes, making excuses about being stuck in traffic. When I finally asked for her location to assess how long she'd take to get there, she barked at me, refusing to share her whereabouts. She even had the audacity to blame my hometown for my frustration! I felt so disrespected and fed up with her attitude. She hung up on me and blocked me. This tour guide was incredibly unprofessional and inconsiderate, and she wasted our time! We were stuck in the area and couldn't do anything else. It was a terrible way to start our vacation, and I wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone! I urge you to stay away from this tour and save yourself the headache.

Such a wonderful experience! Alessia is such a lovely woman and was very informative during the history part of our experience. She allowed us to groom our horses before taking off through the forest and I cannot express my gratitude to her in making this an unforgettable experience! Would 100% recommend.
