An unforgettable experience

This was honestly one of my best experience in Costa Rica! The park is absolutely beautiful with the different animals and waterfalls. The park is extremely well maintained and there are signs for everything. The only thing is that there lots of stairs involved, so prepare to put in a little work! We were only given 2 hours to explore the park (due to the driving service we booked separately) but 2-3 hours is definitely a decent amount of time to explore the entire park.

A Great Overview of Costa Rica

A good overview of Costa Rica floral, fauna and natural beauty. Yes, amimals are in cages, and that's not my favorite, but their enclosures aren't too small. The monkeys were having great fun. Only a jaguar was doing the boredom pace. If there is any chance of rain I would suggest to do the waterfalls first while it's not raining and save the exhibits for when it is raining. Be sure to go inside the Tico exhibit and talk to the docent and take in what a typical 1850 Costa Rican house was like. Their food and coffee samples were delicious.

A lovely day trip with lots to see and do. Very friendly for kids to walk, not difficult and there are many stops along the way as you visit the refuge. Lots to learn about the various animals. All the installations were very clean and well maintained. I can’t say that I agree with the cage sizes but in the end it was nice to be able to see the animals up close. The animals seem to be well cared for and well fed. The price of the buffet is quite high so we opted to picnic prior to entering. The signage to the waterfall is excellent and accurate. Many view points as you make your way back to the shuttle to return to the main entrance. This is a plus with kids. The gift shop prices are insane, over 4X the price of other souvenir shops, so buyer beware.

My wide and I decided to go on this tour to see the wildlife and La Paz waterfall. The grounds were beautiful in the gardens and wildlife area. However, I do not agree with the limited space the animals have in their enclosures. Finally, the stairs down to the waterfall were considerably more than what the host told us.

Beautiful place but hard to find transportation

This is a very beautiful and unique location. We had a great day and really enjoyed being able to see the animals up close. We rented a car to get there from San Jose as transportation is not included in this excursion. It is only 23 miles from my hotel, but took more than 90 minutes there and two hours back.

I asked about logistics in how to get there nobody responded. how do you expect tourists or foreigners to have memorable experiences when nobody can respond? it was rainy day and i didnt know how to get there from downtown San Jose, nobody would respond, so there goes a wasted ticket.

After walking all of the trails and seeing all of the sights, we headed for the fish pond to catch an early dinner of Rainbow Trout. What a great experience. An absolutely wonderful day.

Omg, amazing. We booked on Viator and hitch was less than half of the price our hotel quoted us. Looking up reviews we were a little concerned about transportation, but we Ubered there and back with no issues on a Wednesday(approximately 10am to 4pm from/to San Jose) The place is just amazing! The animals are in appropriate environments, so you don’t feel bad for how they are maintained.

La Paz Experience

While we purchased tickets ahead to avoid the line, there was no line when we arrived. The butterflies were delightful. While it is sad to see animals in cages, it did allow us to view up close animals we later saw in the wild. The highlight were the waterfalls. They were magnificent and so full of power this time of year. The property was neat and clean, and our whole group agreed that it was well worth the time and money.
