Where were the castles? We ONLY saw a jail!

We purchased these tickets because of the castles views. We only saw a castle in the distance before the balloon took air. We never got even close to the castle. We were promised castles and what we got was a view of a low security jail from all angles. We seemed to go in one big circle for an 1hr. The landing was atrocious! Their assistance had to drag the balloon over a rocky patch and over a fence. However, the pilot was friendly.

Thanks for your comments. We reviewed the full video of your flight and it hardly matches your description of the activity. We took off infront of the Alcázar castle and Cathedral, a after a few minutes the pilot climbed to 950 meters above the ground so you could enjoy the city of Segovia, the Guadarrama mountails and the natural landscape around it. Amazing flight over Toledo : MUST DO!!

Victor and his team were very professional and kind. It was a very fun experience and I strongly recommend it! The tour was mainly in Spanish as most visitors were Spanish. But, Victor made the effort to translate and talk to us in English. We also had some drinks and food after the landing which was pleasant. Thank you for this great experience !!

An absolute ‘must do’!! First, I cannot speak highly enough about the staff! They were communicative prior to our flight and made sure that we were going to have the best experience possible. The pilots were so fun and friendly, you can tell that they truly enjoy their jobs and interacting with their riders. The basket we went up in was a bit tight but honestly, we made friends with our fellow passengers which was fun as well! As expected the views are incredibly breathtaking, and it was really cool to see the landscape from different heights. We even had a smooth landing! And they let us help pack away the balloon which was really fun! And Sancho’s post-ride playlist with our Cava and light snacks was the cherry on top!

TERRIBLY DISSAPOINTING FOR A VIATOR BOOKING

After many e-mail exchanges the supplier (aerotours) seemed unwilling to pick me up from Madrid. Finally they tried to persuade me to go to Segovia instead. Because I insisted to fly over Toledo they claimed weather conditions and denied the August 3d flight and proposed a flight on August 6th when I will be out of Madrid, in Santiago de Compostela or Gijon). I asked for a full refund but they never answered. It is the worst experience I ever had with a Viator booking, which I use almost exclusively the past years on my summer vacations throughout the world.

The reason that you were unable to fly over Toledo or Madrid was that the weather was unsuitable for a safe balloon flight in this areas that day. We suggested Segovia where we made a wonderful flight that day, and as you refused, we requested the refund to Viator which should be credited shortly. So we don't understand your reasons for dissapointment, where we tried to accommodate you giving the best alternative given the weather conditions, and when you didn't accepted them, we just canceled and refunded your reservation. We have no control of the weather and the only thing we can do if offer the best alternatives for you. Regards,

Wonderful experience over majestic Segovia

Initially we had booked the flight over Toledo but weather conditions (or booking numbers) meant that we were offered Segovia instead. It also meant an even earlier start - collected from our apartment at 5.30am - so I arrived, with my three daughters, tired and grumpy. The journey to Segovia took around 1 hour. However, the early start meant that we had a wonderful early morning skyline to enjoy whilst the team prepared the balloon. This also allowed us time to meet our fellow travellers - a friendly group. The initial attempt to inflate the balloon was unsuccessful so there was a delay of around 20 minutes then it was time to enter the basket. There are four compartments, each capable of holding four people. Passengers need to be distributed equally to allow for balance so there is a small chance that you may not be in the same compartment. I was initially nervous as the balloon ascended but within minutes I felt safe and relaxed helped by confident commentary from the pilot, The experience is wonderful. Segovia is beautiful. The balloon floats peacefully and elegantly across the town. All passengers were stunned in to silence by the majesty of the experience. The landing was bumpy and controlled, with lots of laughter. Afterwards the team made a fun experience of repacking the balloon, paying particular attention to a young girl and getting her involved. She really enjoyed herself. Some sausage, cheese and cava then certificates were awarded. An hour's journey back to Madrid. That evening we were emailed photos and a lovely 2.5 minute video This was a fantastic experience, the pilot and crew were excellent, the photos and video brilliant mementos. 100% recommended.

Go if your speak Spanish and don't care what you end up seeing

This was one of our least favorite experiences during our trip in Spain. Our issue with the experience was partially based on nature and partially with the listing on Viator. When you're trying to see some specific sites, like seeing the old city, hot air balloons rides are a gamble since you don't know where the wind will blow. Unfortunately on our trip the wind blew the opposite direction and it was very weak so we spent our entire trip floating over some neighborhoods. We also were asked if we had flexibility with dates/locations based on weather. We said we could change locations if needed. I assumed we would be informed ahead of time if there was a change of plans but we were not. We had booked Segovia, but the pick up brought us to Toledo without notice. We were never told why. With regards to the Viator post, it said the tour would be in English. However, no one on the tour spoke English except for one of the other guests. Fortunately she was able to translate some of what the captain was saying, but I don't think it's fair to list this as an English tour, especially if there had been an emergency in the air and we weren't able to communicate. The captain did seem really nice and the the food/drinks were appreciated.

All the pilots are passsing a proficiency check in english by our civil aviation authorities, so you must be sure that any safety information is passed to our passengers during the activity. The weather conditions were not suitable for Segovia that day, and as you previously agreed to a site change, we informed you that the activity will take place in Toledo. On every balloon flight the wind direction dictates the trajectory of the balloon, so we cannot guarantee where the balloon will go during the flight, but the pilots always do their best to make a pleasant and safe flight. Highlight our our trip

We had the BEST time! Truly the highlight of our trip. It was an amazing experience right from the pick up in Madrid, the flight itself, and the brunch out in the open fields. Apart from the beautiful views both in air and after landing in the open fields, both the crew and fellow passengers were so friendly. They even gave out flight certificates in the end and sent us a nicely edited video along with pictures. Highly recommended!

Beautiful setting in Segovia, very nice ascent and descent. Good pilot, excellent friendly team. Didn’t quite depart as scheduled but that didn’t take from the experience as we could observe the setup of all the balloons while we waited. Highly recommend!

Super fun experience! The team is very effective and you feel taken care of. The view is amazing, though you don’t get too close to the castle. The snack is a nice touch but it’s important to note that there is not a bathroom option for the whole tour. The pickup/drop off went well. We definitely recommend it! And make sure you pack good closed toe shoes because getting in and out of the basket is a lot and be prepared for the landing. Again super fun and an amazing memory!

Breathtaking Lifetime Memories

I took this balloon ride with the round trip transfer from Madrid with my 15 year old son. We go there right as the sun was rising and it was beautiful watching the balloons being filled and a few of them taking off form our launch site. When it was our turn to get into the basket we were a bit concerned how many of us there were but there was plenty of room. There are basically four people in each corner so you can be near the edge or more in the center if you prefer. The edge is thrilling unless you are terrified of heights. Actually, if you are terrified of heights, this is not the activity for you. If you just have a normal level of adrenaline rush without the panic attack from the parting of your body and the ground then it will be a great adventure! My son had to work his way up to the edge of the basket. Once you get over the fact that you are 500-1,000 meters high, it is quiet and peaceful- cool up there in August when we went, I would recommend bringing a light jacket. It is warmer near the center where the burner is. They film everything too, which allows you to just experience the peace and beauty of the sunrise, Segovia, and the sheep herds below. Landing was nerve wracking and exciting. You have to duck down and hold onto straps as you basically drag along the ground in an open field until you stop. The you can help pack up the balloon before having a little champagne and snacks. They also give you a flight certificate at the end as a cool souvenir. I am so glad I have this memory with my son. from our trip to Spain.

The early nerves disappear rapidly as the balloon lifts. The view over Segovia was spectacular. A very enjoyable experience but the landing was a challenge. All part of the adventure. I have no complaints at all for my first hot air balloon ride.

We were able to watch while our balloon was inflated and help with the packing up afterwards- all part of the experience. We had a wonderful flight as our balloon take off and landing were both very smooth!!!! We weren’t sure about the actual flight but it was very safe and we were able to take loads of pictures. There were 16 of us in the basket- 4 to a compartment. Would fly with this company again!

Fabulous experience, and so grateful that we were picked up from our apartment. Very professional and super friendly. Young lady pilota who put away the ballon was small but mighty and spoke great English. Pilot was funny and friendly and expert at manoeuvring the balloon. Enjoyed the whole experience very much, including helping roll up the snake and jumping on it to compress it. The certificate was a nice touch. Highly recommend this company as right from the beginning their communication was fantastic.
