Going on an early ferry beat the crowds and made walking the beach very enjoyable. 3 hours was more than enough time to explore the island. Be sure to take a picture of a map of the island before you go. No brochures available.

$50 for a ferry ride (approx 30 min each way) and nearly 3 hours on a deserted island & ecological reserve? I had an entire beach to myself, until a few others discovered it after exploring the island... worth every penny and zero regrets, or stress, after this 1/2 day trip!

The ferry operators were excellent. They were kind and informative and fun. I especially loved that they stopped twice on the return trip to get trash out of the water. A+++ for their care about the environment and wildlife. Egmont Key itself exceeded my expectations. I loved learning about its history and the solitude of the beach. Boaters love to anchor there for the day and I can see why. There are no facilities so you should be mindful of that and the boat doesn’t stay at the island. We (my adult daughter and myself) packed our own drinks and sandwich/snacks and were fine for our time there. Overall, we had an awesome time. We saw a few turtles on the island and on the return ferry ride a large loggerhead. We would definitely return.

Enjoy being out on the key and in the quiet that it provides. We enjoyed looking for shells and hiking around the key.

The boat ride was outstanding, we enjoyed being on the ride, we will be going back again. The island was great, not enough time to see it all so look for us in the future. Loved the forts. Beach was outstanding.

The island is a special experience that I highly recommend. Our ferry crew (Robin and captain Zip) were friendly and provided background information about the island. And if you enjoy looking for shells this is the place to visit. We also saw dolphins on the trip over and back from the island.

Egmont key was amazing! It was like we had the island to ourselves. We didn’t even see anyone from our group when we were out exploring. You get everything - beach vibes, walking trails, and history! So many amazing spots to take photos. 10/10 recommend for anyone of any age. Our guides, Robyn and Scott were cheerful, informative and kept us safe. They were entertaining as well! Thank you for a great day trip!

Had such a great and relaxing time, from the second I stepped foot on the boat! The weather was great, the water was beautiful and calm and even saw dolphins within minutes of take off. Robyn and Mike played music and engaged with the guests throughout the trip. They were both knowledgeable of the island and gave awesome tips for shelling, exploring the fort and looking for shark teeth. I would definitely recommend the ferry to any island as long as Robyn and Mike are captains!!!

This was a fun day excursion. The ferry was comfortable with music playing and polite captains. We saw dolphins. The island was so much fun. We recommend skipping the ghost town ruins and just head to the beach. (Too much walking and nothing to really show for it.) The girls had fun snorkeling and finding so many large and small sea shells. We also flew a kite. Overall a perfect beach experience without too many people. The ocean water was the perfect temperature. So glad we chose this experience.
