Extremely Disappointed!

We were extremely disappointed when we were informed on our way to the gardens that we may not have a ride back even though we purchased a round trip ticket. They told us they could not guarantee a seat and if there wasn’t room, we would need to figure out how to def back! Plus we only had about 90 minutes there. We thought we had more time than that. This is not good business and not honest. We took the city bus back when we paid over $30 round trip for the gardens each. We were very upset.

The gardens are very beautiful and taking the express bus is definitely convenient. Nevertheless, buyer beware if traveling during the fringe/off tourist season. Even though the description states you have a flexible return this is misleading. We took the 11:30pm bus and once moving our driver announced that the only return bus was at 2:30pm AND it was on a "first come" basis. Meaning that those who took the morning bus can take a seat on the 2:30pm one if they arrived before you. He then stated alternative return options were a taxi or city bus. Honestly, this ruined our enjoyment of the gardens and we rushed through it to ensure we got a seat on the return trip. Many other passengers on our bus felt the same way, as the bus was pretty much full at least 20 minutes before departure.

We took the 11:30am booking to go round trip to the gardens. We were informed when we were about 10 minutes from the garden, that they had a 9:30 am bus there that had the option of being picked up at 12:30 or 2:30. So there would not be enough seats to take everyone back. And you would have to pay your way if you didn’t get a seat. So we had to quickly go through the gardens to get back early enough to make sure we had a ride back IMO You should have the 9:30am tour picked up at 12:30. And the other tour picked up at 2:30. We did get a seat but some people did not. Research before booking. However- the bus driver ,Joe, was very informative and nice.

The garden was great and the cafe had good food plus the gift shop was wonderful. The bus driver told some wonderful stories on the way there and back.

I went in August so I could see the fireworks at the garden unfortunately they were canceled due to fire warnings. Still gardens were absolutely beautiful. Bus ride was great with historical commentary from driver . I wish we could of stopped at the butterfly gardens and winery also they were right there .

The bus to the Gardens worked out great! We got the bus right out front of The Empress hotel where we were staying so it was very convenient. We also enjoyed the commentary along the way!

The driver said the bus comes back every hour. With 3 small children and 6 adults he did not mention they only run until 5:00pm. We were stranded, scared, and angry. The garden was open until 10:00pm!!! It was 6:00 and we didn’t know what to do.

I just needed a ride to the garden and the driver was nice but did not stop talking the whole time! You should mention this on the description for people who just want a ride in silence.

Easy transport from Embassy hotel to Butchart. Kiosk had our info on file. The driver was humorous and interesting as we drove through the streets of Victoria.
