Var på plats 20 minuter före avgång. Möt oss vid vår bas på Sólheimajökulls parkeringsplats. Körtiden från Reykjavík är 2,5 timmar. Kör längs väg 1 på sydkusten, sväng sedan vänster på väg 221. Efter ca. 5 minuters bilresa kommer du till startpunkten.

Före turens avgångstid, ta dig till mötesplatsen vid Sólheimajökull Base Camp för att träffa din glaciärguide och en liten grupp medvandrare. Förbered dig med din medföljande klättersele, stegjärn och isyxa och gör dig redo att bege dig upp till Sólheimajökulls utloppsglaciär.

Efter en inledande förklaring om hur du använder din utrustning och går säkert på en glaciär, ta dig upp på den skimrande glaciären, gå genom ett fruset underland av blå is, glaciärformationer och djupa sprickor. Dra nytta av massor av pauser för foton, insikter i glacial geologi och möjligheten att dricka rent glaciärvatten innan du beger dig ner igen.

En vandring att minnas

En familjeresa - barn 18 , 15 , 9 . Efter en kort förklaring - begav sig mot glaciären. Vår guide var ganska ny (sägs 1 år på jobbet) - men anmärkningsvärt professionell och artig. Stannade för frågor och tog oss för en superhäftig upplevelse att minnas. Plus att solen sken. . . . . Solheimajokull var verkligen glaciären i solens hus :-)

Glacier Experience

It was a cool experience to be on top of the glacier. Just wish it was longer and more active like advertised and expected. In reality you’re hiking the glacier for maybe 45 minutes- 1 hour but tour guides were nice and informative.

We had the most incredible time with Sophia as our tour guide. Our experience was very intimate -- just Sophia, me and my husband -- as the other group members had to cancel last minute. The views were stunning and drinking glacier water for the first time was an unforgettable experience. Sophia was knowledgeable and excellent at clearly explaining concepts whenever we asked questions. She was patient, kind, and also took great photos for us! Overall we had a very safe, fun, and educational adventure and were able to go quite far as we did not have other group members to wait for. I would absolutely recommend this experience to others. Thank you Sophia for being the absolute best guide!

Unique experience!

Once in a lifetime chance to hike on a glacier and drink the freshest water in the world! The guide was friendly, funny, and taught us a lot about glaciers. It’s not strenuous at all… lots of breaks and talking. Very easy for someone who doesn’t hike much. Next time I would book a private tour so we could spend more time on the glacier and less time waiting on people to get their gear on. It took an hour before we even got onto the glacier to get prepped. Still a great time though!

What a cool excursion!

This is a super cool experience and definitely a must-do! Wearing crampons on your shoes and hiking with a pick-ax really add to the overall uniqueness of the experience. It does rain 200+ days on the glacier so make sure you waterproof yourself as much as possible. We were completely drenched (even in our gear) but we all still said it was worth it! Make sure to drink some of the fresh glacier water, it was delicious!

Drizzling, foggy, mild to moderately strenuous, but a great experience. Safety stressed. Guide very instructive and helpful. We’re 75 and had no trouble.

Very cool to walk on a glacier. The company was well set up and the equipment quality is good (although you only actually need the crampons and everything else is just for show). The instructors are very friendly and have an excellent knowledge of the glacier. Only reason I haven’t given it five stars is because essentially you are paying £75 for something you could very easily do yourself by hiring crampons for £5. (Maybe it’s more dangerous in the winter?)

Fun experience!

This was an enjoyable experience for our family. We did not know what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. My kids especially enjoyed walking on the glacier and using the ice ax! Our guide, Louisa, was fantastic. She was very patient with our large group… She assisted the kids with their gear and reassured my mom as we walked on some steep areas. She also taught us a lot about the formations we encounters. We would not have had such a positive experience had it not been for her!

Josh and Javier were fantastic guides. Extremely knowledgeable about the glacier and geology. The group was diverse in our physical capabilities and they made sure everyone enjoyed the hike. The ‘Viking style’ drink and view into the crevasse were the best! I would highly recommend this tour.

Amazing experience. The tour guide was great--extremely knowledgeable about glaciers and also very helpful--made sure we were all using the equipment safely. The glacier hike was incredible to experience and was one of the highlights of our trip to Iceland. Highly recommend!!!
