Amazing village experience
Steph_T, maj 2024
The whole day was amazing, far better than expected. Jet boat ride was awesome, not too extreme for our young children and the village experience was incredible. We thought it was expensive when we booked but felt it was well worth the money when you consider what was included. Would definitely recommend.
Good experience very funny

A Must Do Experience
Cindy_W, apr. 2024
The day was great! The jet boat ride was fun, and our captain "Fabulous Freddie" shared his passion for the area in the stories he shared of growing up in a nearby village. Once in the village, the villagers were welcoming and friendly. Starting with the kava ceremony welcoming us into the village, and then the tour of the village and then lunch, prepared by the women of the village, was delicious and plentiful, and then singing and dancing with the villagers, the day is incredible! When you go, take gifts for the village, like candies or lollipops for the kids, they really appreciate it. On the jet boat back, be prepared to get wet, but it's great fun!
A must exciting tour

We were looking forward to this tour and I must say it did not disappoint us at all. It was a once in a life time experience to navigate the Sigatoka river on this jet boat. Our visit to the village was a new cultural and extremely educational experience. It was nice to partake with the villagers and learn from them from the Kava ceremony, the delicious feast for lunch and the dancing with the members of the village.
Amazing trip

The speed boat was fun and the experience in the village was great. We had a traditional cava ceremony and the ladies fed us an amazing traditional lunch and then had fun dancing with the village people. A must do when in Fiji.

Josephine was a great captain and we enjoyed our time out of the boat walking through the village and meeting the villagers. Boat ride was about 20 mins each way with a few hours in the Village. All of the villagers in town and in the river were super friendly!
Sigatoka Jetboat Safari - MUST DO day of fun and culture!

'Captain Laps' was our guide who also came from the village we visited. He was hilarious and had us laughing all the way. We had a decent boat ride to the village with a few stops on the way to offer local info. A short uphill walk from river to village, we were welcomed by the locals, respectfully witnessed the kava ceremony, ate a very tasty lunch cooked in the Lovo, chatted to the village men and women, danced and listened to the villagers perform songs. The goodbye song left lumps in our throats - just beautiful. We were made very welcome and were invited to sit out of the sun with the men and drink kava while the community room was cleared for the perfomances. Anyone who had brought gifts for the village (not expected but happily accepted) passed them forward and we headed back to the boat. Hindsight, should have packed lollies for the village children. The jetboat trip home was the best fun. Captain Laps made sure we met with plenty of water with his cheeky boat manouvres which cooled us off after the hours in the heat. This tour was the highlight of Fiji for us. It wasn't a contrived tourist village - we were visiting their home. Don't forget sunscreen, hats (for outside at the village) and water! Ladies - a light cover up to go over your shoulders.
Enjoyable and exciting

Jet boat ride was amazing with Captain Lap. Trek up to village is tough. Simon spokesman was very welcoming. Lunch was Fijian sitting on floor to eat. The village people program was entertaining.
Amazing activity

Beautiful experience meeting the local villagers — a must-do while in Fiji
Sarah_M, dec. 2023
This was such a memorable day. It was a long trip (a bit over an hour) from Denarau to the jet boat but we were all happy to look at the scenery along the way. The jet boat took us to a remote village where we met the locals and learned about their way of life. I recommend taking some gifts for the children, like balls, stationery or chocolate. They were just beautiful, joyous souls. We ate a lovely traditional Fijian lunch and danced and sang with the villagers. My children thoroughly enjoyed the day too. A real highlight of our trip to Fiji.
Memorable Journey

From the shop in Sigatoka (if you drive they have a parking lot), we took a short bus ride north into the interior of the island and arrived at a base camp. We split up into about 12 to each powerful, flat, jet boat. While driving up and down the river, the captain, Fabulous Freddy, stopped a couple of times and told us about the history of Fiji and life in his village and others like his. After jetting around (the water is low in this time of year, November, before the rainy season, so boating is more fun, with more obstacles), we docked at the base of the Mavua village and ascended a path to the village grounds. Very simple houses are arranged around a green yard and that area is surrounded by farms. If you get a chance to visit a village such as this one (or this one - take this tour!) you will get a real appreciation for how simple a life can be and also how fulfilling. In the village, we met the residents in a Kava ceremony and introduced ourselves one at a time. We ate a meal, we danced and they played music and sang songs with beautiful harmonies, showing off lifetimes of practice and the soul of a religious and joyful people. The children of the village joined us for dancing and some of the visitors offered toys and coloring books, stickers, and a soccer ball. All thoughtful gifts for kids who don't sit around and play on phones all day. We spent about three hours at the village and then it was time to go. On the way back, Freddy piloted the boat into several 360 spins where we got drenched and then finished up back in town in the early afternoon. I would highly recommend this tour for the village tour and the fun way you get there and back. We went on a Saturday which might be a good day because the children and residents were out of school. The whole trip was about four hours. It's not strenuous, so suitable for all abilities. There is a little bit of a walk back up a large hill at the end (from the dock to the base camp). All of the tour operators including the staff at Sigatoka Tappoo Shop and the base camp were all professional and very kind.
Must try!

What an AMAZING experience! We went on a jet boat up the Sigatoka River to a village. At the village we were greeted by multiple families where they fed us their local food and took us out to dance. I highly recommend to book this tour. You won’t be disappointed!
Enchanting Fiji Adventure: A Heartwarming Journey with Sigatoka River Safari
Vignesh_S, dec. 2023
I had an incredible experience with Sigatoka River Safari, exploring Fiji's beauty and learning about local village life. The boat ride was truly unique, offering breathtaking views. The Kava ceremony was a beautiful cultural touch, and the villagers' kindness left a lasting impression. The delicious food served added to the overall delight. I highly recommend this as a must-do in your Fiji trip, and the suggestion to bring a gift for the village people enhances the meaningful connection with the community.
A balance of wholesome and exciting

This excursion was one of my favourite activities during my stay. Siteri was very knowledgeable and funny in telling us about the history and culture of Sigatoka on the minibus ride to the boats. The boat ride was broken up by interesting stories about the villagers who live nearby and use the river, including the captain's personal accounts. The activities at the village were plentiful, including visiting the village church, buying handmade jewellery, etc from locals, the kava ceremony, lunch and dancing, to name a few. Joe in the Tappoo shop was helpful arranging a taxi when I had a change of plans after the activity. Be sure to pack a change of clothes and get a waterproof bag for the boat ride, if you can, as the splashes will soak you and everything inside the boat!
The captain Jack is the best!!
erika_B, nov. 2023
It was a great experience to see local people in village and beautiful Cava ceremony with Fijian songs. Must have this tour. It's gonna be really wet end of the tour. You should bring extra clothes and water proof bags on the boat!
THE TRUE FIJI EXPERIENCE
michaelariwai, nov. 2023
The highlight of our trip to Fiji! One of the most rewarding and humbling experiences we’ve had. Our captain and guide was FREDDIE he was the absolute best who spoke so lovingly of his home! The jet boat along the Sigatoka river provided us with a small insight on how essential the river is to the number of villages that live along side it. Upon the travel to the village we passed many locals that always had a smile and a big wave for us - truly heartwarming! The village we visited was sat upon a small hill so take comfy shoes and some good knees lol The people in the village were so welcoming and really made you feel like you belonged to their village, such an honour to partake in the lava ceremony and have a meal with them! This trip will forever be a cherished memory for our family. Please if you do visit the village - if able take something for the people, candy for the children, books, clothing anything that you can. As they say it is not expected but it is appreciated. We wish we could have done more to repay their hospitality. Vinaka, Freddie and the whole team!!
Absolutely amazing experience!

We loved visiting the village today and the history behind the village. Captain Jack was beyond amazing and we can’t thank him enough for putting a big smile on Brodie’s face. Brods has autism and is non verbal and Captain Jack went above and beyond to help the day run smoothly 😊
