Great Abu Dhabi experience

A peaceful and relaxing way to see a different part of Abu Dhabi We had a double kayak and a guide all to ourselves on an 8am tour There is an option to swim Area to change, leave shoes etc on dock and dry bags to borrow for valuables Very good joining instructions

Interesting alternative view of Abu Dhabi

As with other reviews we were asked to be at the meeting point 30 minutes ahead of the booking to be sure that the group was ready to depart on time so were surprised when the group was just the two of us. We were introduced to our guide, given the necessary quick instructions and set off in a double kayak. Our guide, whose name I've forgotten (sorry), set an easy to follow pace, checking we were OK and telling us about the area. We'd picked high tide which meant we could explore the narrower channels, but unfortunately the flocks of birds had moved to shallower water to feed which meant very little wildlife on show. The first part of the trip took us about 50 minutes to get to the beach where we had a long rest (swimming optional) before the 10 minute paddle back. Very relaxed tour, not much wildlife but very interesting to see the mangroves up close and and learn a bit about the area. Definitely something I'd do ago.

Nice get away from the city noise

It’s a very nice 2.5 KM kayaking path, it’s a great way to get an escape from the city crowd, get some time with the nature, see some fish and birds, and get some nice exercise done. Very friendly guides and very beginner friendly The only disappointing bit for me was how overly beginner friendly it was, I’ve been sea kayaking before, and this just wasn’t up to the same challenge. But if you’ve never kayaked before or just like it for recreation, and don’t require a challenge, it should be good fun for you!

Recommended activity with a confusing start

We booked the kayaking tour with hotel pickup/dropoff one day in advance. The driver arrived on time. However, he must have been a sub-contractor hired by the tour operator and didn't know where to drop us off. We eventually found the place, but once there we had trouble locating the pier where the tour operator is based. No local staff there seemed to recognize the operator's name of our booking as they seem to run many different companies through one entity with a different name. If that sounds confusing to you...that's how it felt to us. Eventually we got to our kayak and ventured out with the guide and a group of 6 boats. The trip lasted 2 hours and was nice. The tour was what we expexted. We definitely recommend the activity. If you stay in downtown Abu Dhabi you might as well make your way to the indicated tour start location yourself. There's a hotel closeby with taxies readily available and it might be cheaper to go by taxi than the operator's dedicated hotel pickup/dropoff (depending where you stay, of course).

Put us under a lot of pressure to get there 30 minutes early then made us wait half an hour to starteven though we were the only participants Didn't tell me to wear a swimsuit even though there was a swim stop.Loads of mosquitoes....take spray.
