What To Expect

Your day trip begins with pickup in Adelaide by coach for the drive across the Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis, where you catch the ferry for a cruise across Backstairs Passage to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. Upon arrival, board another coach for your tour of the island.

Then begin your Kangaroo Island experience at Seal Bay Conservation Park to witness Australian sea lions lazing on the beach; take a coastal walk with a National Parks ranger for an up-close look at the colony. After your visit to Seal Bay Conservation Park, you will enjoy a delicious two course lunch.

After lunch, visit Flinders Chase National Park on the rugged southwest coast of the island to walk among the granite boulders known as the Remarkable Rocks. See the rock archway known as Admirals Arch, admire Cape du Couedic and watch long-nosed fur seals as they play and relax.

Throughout your tour, hear about the history of Kangaroo Island and learn interesting facts about the animals from your knowledgeable guide. When your time on the island is up, head back to the ferry landing, watching for more kangaroos along the way, for your ferry ride back to the mainland.

Was a long day, but totally worth it. Really enjoyed seeing the sea lions. Would recommend the tour to anyone.
Kangaroo Island - a unique journey that will reward your commitment of time and endurance.
Pat_S, Apr 2024
This was a very long journey for a day trip and with a lot of territory to traverse, the time to stop and explore locations was limited. Nevertheless the opportunity to see such a remote place and engage with wildlife was a very special experience. Our driver was exceptional in her knowledge, skill and obvious dedication to protecting this unique sanctuary.
Great but long time on bus
Michael_L, Apr 2024
Great to see the sea lions and the seals. Spectacular nature. However, Kangaroo Island is large which leads to many hours on the bus. The day was long, and it is difficult to survive with just a lunch, an additional snack or sandwich would be appreciated.
Really fun trip but lots and lots of time of a bus
Jason_R, Apr 2024
This was a fun trip though there is a lot of time spent on a bus…most of the tour in fact is on the bus. But the things we saw were great and we did get to see some kangaroos and koalas in the wild. The highlight of the day was by far the Animal Sanctuary where we loved hand feeding and patting the kangaroos. We both just wished that this section had of been longer (it was only 30 mins) and that it had been prioritised over the other activities. We both highly recommend this trip.
Disppointed.

To be very honest, I didn't have too much expectations from reading the reviews prior to going on this tour. I knew that it would be quite rushed and that there will be a lot of travelling, however, I did not find the experience enjoyable at all. First of all, the coach arriving at Adelaide Central Bus Station came 25 minutes late and there were no updates / communications about the delay. Then after we got to Penneshaw, we were on the roads for almost 2 hours before we got to Sea Lion Bay. We were constantly reminded of how much we are behind schedule the whole day. Although we were lucky that they fit us into the Guided Sea Lion Bay Tour, it was very brief and the tour guide just didn't seem like she wanted us there at all. Then more travelling on the roads ... admiral arch is disappointing as there is construction going on, so this should have been substituted for another experience. Overall, felt very disappointed for the value that I have paid for.
Not Worth the money

Total rip off. We spent most of the time on the bus and we barely had time to see the sights. The driver was rushing us throughout the trip.
A long but wonderful day

Nice tour around Kangaroo Island. It was a long day, but Hamish our tour guide was amazing! Very knowledgeable!
Some great experiences but a long day on the bus
AnnMarie_B, Mar 2024
The seal beach was brilliant, the guide was very informative. Some great scenic sites for pictures and the opportunity to get up close and personal with the koalas was great. Lunch was lovely. Only thing that let the day down for me was the amount of time on the bus and ferry, at least 9 hours of the day are travel which really took some of the sparkle away.
So-so

Definitely not the best experience to remember. You need to take a bus (2hours) and ferry (1 hour) and another bus at kangaroo island for another 2 hours. First we went to seal bay, we stand extremely far from the seals and spent there 5-10 mins… We were rush to jump to the bus for another 40 mins or so for remarkable stone, probably the most beautiful location for the day, but bus driver gave us another 30 mins or saw to spend there. And again , we were rush to jump to the bus and drive to another location for 30 mins time there. And the location were under reconstruction… We went to small zoo after and again were rush to the bus as we needed to drive to airport to drop 4 people off ( we spent an hour for it). Definitely not the experience I paid for. I would never recommend to waste your day for it…
Such an enjoyable time

Such an enjoyable time! I took this tour on 03.01.24, it was fabulous. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, and entertaining. We made all our stops as promised and saw many great sights. Australian Sea Lions, Flinders National Park, Vivonne Bay and Seal Bay Conservation Park the Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. The lunch was good and saw a Koala in the trees there. This trip is a must do if you are in the area of Adelaide and/or Kangaroo Island.
Tour evaluation
John_G, Mar 2024
This was a very long tour, and tried to do too much in one day. The end result was that at the final stop we did not have enough time remaining to adequately see the entire facility (specifically, we did not have time to see the large kangaroos, although we did get to see the smaller kangaroos). The guide tried hard to make everything work, but did not sufficiently emphasize to all group members the need to stay on schedule-
Kangaroo Island a packed experience

Seal Bay Remarkable Rick climb patting kangaroo island roos. Just a pity didn't have enough time to enjoy seafood dinner. Sealink were fabulous with transit.

Wonderful day on Kangaroo Island

A must do you’re visiting Adelaide. Very long day but well worth it. Nice early morning drive down to Cape Jervis where there were hundreds of wild kangaroos along the roadside paddocks and pretty rolling hills - took 1 hr 45 mins to the ferry. Then on the other side saw some more wild koalas, snakes and kangaroos 🦘. The sights were gorgeous and our tour guide Adam (I think) was exceptional. Provided so much interesting information with a great sense of humour. Note that it is cold and windy at lots of the stops and the buses blast cold A/C so dress warm! Also note that they do not drop you anywhere for dinner and lunch wasn’t very filling (small plate fish and chips) so we were very hungry when we arrived back at the hotel at 1030 pm. The ferry back in the evening has a tiny cafe with sandwiches and muffins but they close shortly after departure so get your dinner right after boarding! And pack lots of food too - but not honey as it’s not allowed on the island. Think that’s it. Enjoy - it will be an amazing day!
Long Day but Worth the Journey!

Long but absolutely memorable day. Yes, it's a very long day (16 hours from pick up to drop off) but it's clear about that in the description. Bring a book or plan to nap on the bus to and from Adelaide to the ferry and you'll be fine. The island is stunning- even given the fact that nearly a third to half of the island burned during their devastating bush fires in 2019 and 2020. The colors, the ruggedness, to beauty is well worth the journey to get there. Our guide for the day (who's name, sadly I did not write down) was fantastic. A native of the island and able to provide information not only on the island itself but what it was like to live there. Such a gorgeous, tranquil place that I hope to return to and perhaps stay a night or two next time. There are wineries there and I would have loved to check a few of them out! Also bring some snacks as you'll not really have anywhere to eat dinner- though there are a few food items at the ferry terminal to purchase and on the ferry for the ride back.

The guide was great, stopping and pointing out koalas several times! While it was a lot of driving, it was so worth it for the great experience.
👍
Kelly_T, Feb 2024
The tour guide she was fantastic, the only thing we’d consider changing would be to drop the Wildlife experience in consideration for a longer time to have a meal before the longggggg drive back to Adelaide 👍
Great day but lots of travel time
Carolyn_D, Feb 2024
A great day! Be prepared for 2.5 hrs to get there from Adelaide. Lots of time on a bus as it's a big island. Lots of fascinating places to see. A delicious lunch. I would have liked more than 45 minutes at the Wildlife centre. It was the highlight of the tour and too rushed. I needed more time with the kangaroos and koalas.
