Explore the dramatic glaciers of Banff National Park on this adventurous Athabasca Glacier tour. Along the way, get a first-hand look at the key role these huge ice formations played in shaping the sweeping valleys, colorful alpine lakes, and soaring peaks of the region.
After pickup from central Banff, sit back and enjoy the ride along the Icefields Parkway, one of the world’s most scenic drives. Because you don’t have to navigate or watch the road, this tour lets you focus on the mountains towering above. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife at the edges of the forest.
Dig into a hearty mountain picnic and take a photo stop at Bow Lake, one of the largest lakes in Banff National Park, against the backdrop of the Crowfoot Glacier.
Climb aboard the Ice Explorer and drive across the surface of this glittering sheet of ice. Getting thirsty? You have a chance to drink pure, cold water straight from the glacier. You'll also walk the glass floor Glacier Skywalk, hanging from the edge of the Sunwapta Valley, for unparalleled views of the canyon below and mountains around you.

This was a worthwhile trip for sure! Although, I personally found the stops along the way more interesting than the actual glacier activities themselves. The skywalk was cool but the ice explorer was a bit underwhelming….the area you get to explore is very small. The guide we had was very knowledgeable and stopped in quite a few scenic spots on the way to and from the ice field which was awesome!

It was a discovery of a lifetime as I've never heard of this glacier before. Took a chance to book this tour and got the best out of it. Phoebe ( from Australia), our driver, tour guide and photographer all in one deserves credit for making this 11-hour tour fun, educational and memorable. It was a long drive indeed and the weather was cloudy and rainy with light winds initially, then a bit of flurries and lastly, sunshine upon reaching the glacier. Our stop by a lake for lunch allowed us to stretch, take in the marvelous views and see a mountain goat by the mountain side. Packed chicken wrap was filling, apple, cookie and small juice box included. Best surprise was the sight of a bear feeding by the roadside as we headed on. Time on the Athabasca Glacier was about 20 minutes -- can see ice like blue and white crystals. Skywalk was also a great experience with gorgeous views of the Rockies with its canyons, evergreens dotted with Fall foliage and waterfalls. Stop by Peyto Lake was likewise an experience as its emerald waters was just stunning to look at. Overall experience is priceless !

We did this tour while spending a week in BanffCanmore. We had Roz as our tour guide and she was absolutely amazing. Pickup location was easy to find, and there were a few groups waiting for various tours. Once everyone was on the bus, Roz thoroughly explained what to expect and the timeline of the day. The wealth of knowledge that she had and told us on the journey made the long drive much more interesting as we learned about history and wildlife. While the Glacier is the highlight of the trip, the various stops at viewpoints along the way were equally beautiful. The provided lunch was delicious and had a large amount of food to keep you energized for the day. My wife has food allergies and they were very accommodating for her. Thank you Roz for such a great experience!

Walking out on the Athabasca Glacier was the highlight of the trip! Riding in the big snow trucks to get out to the glacier is an experience in itself. It was a long day but an experience we won’t forget.

Excellent day. Lovely drive up to ice field with a good pack lunch provided, sitting in the sun by a lake. Jeff, our guide was excellent as was Dylan on the snow truck. Amazing to see but amazing to stand on a glacier. Would recommend highly.
