What To Expect

Set off on a stroll around the narrow streets of the Bari Old Town. Stop for a look at the pilgrimage church of the Basilica of St. Nicholas. Dedicated to the saint whose legend became Santa Claus, the church houses his holy remains in an ornate crypt. See the Cathedral of St. Sabinus, and admire the nearby 12th-century Swabian Castle.

Continue through the Old Town to scout out the best eateries with your guide. Stop at a pastry bakery to sample focaccia barese. Bite into creamy burrata as you learn about cheese and salami at a delicatessen; sip wine as you hear about the region’s wine-making heritage; and discover the secrets of rich, homemade ice cream as you eat one, of course.

Finish with a visit to the modern French part of the city, where opera theaters, luxury boutiques, and a seaside market can be found. Your tour ends with a hotel drop-off.

This was more than a street walking tour. It was a historic walking tour of the city, then a sampling of the food. The food was delicious and you were not hungry when it was finished. We learned so much about the city, which was really fun.

Carlotta was fun ! The 4 food tasting are worth it in different types of places. And really special !! Have an empty stomach ! And don’t expect to have a meal after !! It is a walking local gourmet meal !

I just spent 20 minutes writing a review and then received an error message. Plain and simple…Don’t do this tour! It is not a food tour. We Started at 11am and didn’t eat or drink anything until 1pm! Over 2 hours. They lumped a historic tour in for the first two hours and then made an announcement that that tour was over and now the food tour was beginning. We were furious. The “food tour” portion was not even an hour and didn’t even include all of the things that were listed. Also I booked an English tour however they put us on a multilingual so the guide then repeated everything in German. It was the worst tour I’ve ever been on. Don’t waste your time and money and don’t book anything with Velo since they just lump everyone together. Would not recommend.

The food stops were excellent between stops at notable historic buildings. The interactive street band experience was really fun! The cruise ship shuttle bus took us very near the meet up location. Our guide, Emanuele, was fun, knowledgeable and spoke in English clearly. Would recommend this tour!

A Great Tour of Old Town Bari!

This was a nice introductory tour of Bari. We did the food tour portion. Others in the group did just the town tour, others the pasta experience. While there was not a lot of food on this tour compared to others, we thought we got great value for the price. Especially being introduced to the best focaccia in Bari! Had to make a second trip to get more! Carmela was a wonderful guide. She was knowledgeable and attentive to all the guests. She had great information on Bari and kept the tour moving. I would highly recommend asking for her if you take this tour. If you want to learn more about Bari’s history and how to navigate through the old town, this is the tour for you.

Its not a bad tour, just a terrible food tour. As many people wrote the first 90% of the tour is joined with other groups and is a general historical tour. During the last 20 minutes you get some (delicious) food with minimal explanation… The guide was really nice but overwhelmed… NOT A FOOD TOUR, just a tour with some food at it’s end

Simona was a delightful guide and she handled a large group with ease. She explained quite a lot about Bari and it’s history and it’s people. It was a good tour but there were too many people. It would have been better if she had a megaphone as it was hard to hear her.
