Great experience in a Bucharest wine bar

Wonderful experience in an intimate setting. We got to try two whites, a rosé, and two reds. We received detailed descriptions about the wines and their origins. The meat and cheese platter was great!

Very disappointing event for a solo traveller. Not recommended - spend your money elsewhere

I was very disappointed with this event as a solo wine taster. I was expecting this to be a group event but there was only a young couple who were loved up and not looking for anyone to join them. This function was very expensive by Romania prices and I wasn’t treated well as a single person when the meat and cheese platter became a cheese platter for one. They said they can only mix for 2 people. Wine explanations were poor and monologue and 5 150ml glasses and a bit of cheese for £37 was crazy. It might be an enjoyable event for groups or couple but for a single person it is to avoid and just spend far less for a nice meal and a bottle of wine at a good restaurant.

A lovely evening

An orientation of the beautiful country of Romania, through wine. Our host shared the unique history of each vine yard, region and the wines were exquisite. A cheese board, with warm bread complimented the tasting, against the backdrop of the rustic old town the wine bar nestles within.

I can't recommend this activity highly enough! My partner and I were curious to taste Romanian wines as we had never done this in the UK and we were so pleased we did. We received a very warm welcome on arrival at Abel's and we got started straightaway with a wonderfully light and easy to drink white, followed by a generous charcuterie and cheese platter with bread and four more gorgeous wines, each explained brilliantly by our guide. We went back later on and purchased two of our favourite bottles and would definitely return if we visited Bucharest again.

This was an excellent wine tasting. We had a perfect pairing of cheeses and the wine was definitely fine wine. A very good explanation of the different regions in Romania and their recent beginnings. I was very happy to taste wine comparable to the best around the world. We felt like welcome guests at our visit. It was a highlight of our trip.

Thoroughly enjoyed our wine tasting experience. Tasted 5 different wines & were told about each one & shown which region it came from. The wines were accompanied by a platter of meats & cheeses - all very tasty & went well with the wines. All in all a very pleasant evening.

A Great Intro to Romanian Wines

A very attentive wine steward who offered detailed explanations about each wine's origin, using a map of the wine-growing regions as well. He also responded in detail to questions. That said, I would have enjoyed it more if there had been others on the tour. The wine steward said that tours are busy in the evenings, whereas my tour was in the early afternoon. Perhaps this tour should only be offered in the evenings.
