Leisurely ride through beautiful country with delightful, knowledgeable guide
Elizabeth_J, Apr 2024
I didn't realize when I booked this that it would be just my husband, me and our wonderful guide, Scott, so that was a great surprise - a private bike ride full of history on a gorgeous day in the Santa Ynez Valley. Scott is lovely, and so knowledgeable about the area and it's history - and, as a bonus, is a huge Civil War history buff, so being from Atlanta, and my husband's family being from VA (and one not-so-distant ancestor having been in Pickett's Charge), we had some fun talking about that. The ride is easy and we had fabulous weather; not too much traffic the day we went. The olive oil tasting was great, and we had a lovely lunch (provided by Scott's lovely wife, Dorothy) at the winery at the end. All around, a very pleasant way to spend the morning. The ride is not strenuous at all, so if you are looking for harder riding, this isn't for you; I'd call it a leisurely ride.
Temper your expectations

If we would have known that only 4 out of our group of 7 would have comfortable, new, well-functioning bikes, we wouldn’t have booked this tour. We had to stop and pick up a bike from another shop because one of the bikes we were given didn’t work at all and we had to swap bikes with one another every so often as a few of the bike seats were so uncomfortable we couldn’t tolerate them for long. A few of the bikes were old, over used, had broken buttons and were noisy, but again, about 1/2 of the group got really nice, comfortable ones. Our tour guide was nice & knowledgeable, however, we were told there should have been two guides for a party our size. So where was the other tour guide? We enjoyed the olive oil & wine. Lunch was very tasty and the scenery was beautiful. Sadly, the lack of quality and uniformity of the bikes really distracted from this experience.

Hello Melissa. Thank you for your candor comments. I apologize for any inconveniences with the e-bikes. We had another large e-bike tour that day and did our best to accommodate everyone. When we discovered several of our e-bikes we’re not up to par the morning of, we did our best to find a viable solution. Typically, for 8 or more guests we add a second guide. We sometimes add a second guide for shorter routes, if staff is available. But very often one guide can easily manage a group of 7 on these tours.
Fabulous sightseeing

Mike was very helpful explaining how the electric bike works. He showed us some beautiful sights and had a delicious lunch and amazing time at the winery.
Disappointed
David_A, Sep 2022
The wine at Rideau and the ride over stopping to see the miniature horses and pumpkin patch were very enjoyable but very Disappointed that for the of money we paid on my wife’s birthday for this excursion we only stopped at 1 vineyard and tasted some olive oil and balsamic vinegar along the way. Chris the tour guide certainly knew his stuff but should have informed us before we started tour that The Lavender farm tour was not available and then the tour company should have replaced it with something else or refunded us some of the money. Transparency is always best.
Response from Host, Sep 2022
Hi David. Sorry that you didn’t enjoy your tour. We only advertise one stop at a winery for this tour due to the safety of biking and drinking wine. Due to the time of the tour we usually only stop at either Olive Oil or Lavender farm. Sounds like Chris tried to visit both to make the day extra special, but this is not typical. I’m sorry they’ were closed. It’s a family operation and there hours often change unexpectedly.
Excellent way to spend a day near Solvang

A great way to spend the day touring the beautiful wine country. We really enjoyed the olive oil tasting as well.
