Never to old to play in the mud
    Taschia_D, Apr 2024
Book it! We met at a central location. Eliana was our guide and she took good care of us. We took an air conditioned bus to the mud volcano and then to a resort to enjoy lunch. The resort was meh but good for the price. The experience was great just be ware that everything costs. The massages in the volcano, the ladies waiting at the pond to help you clean, the photographer, etc. Tip 10,000 cop individually which is equivalent to $4usd

It was a unique experience and I truly enjoyed it. The tour guide was amazing 5 stars! The locals can be hounding so be prepared and don’t let anyone do anything for you unless you are prepared to tip! Literally anything

I would not recommend this tour
    Olivia_A, Feb 2024
This tour company was not accommodating to my friend nor myself I would not recommend them to others as there are many better options for the mud bath tour.
    Response from Host, Feb 2024
Thank you very much for your comment, Mrs. Olivia, but you never attended the activity, we called you and waited for you for an hour at the meeting point and you never attended, if you need we have evidence
    Vanessa was great!
    adedolapo_o, Feb 2024
Vanessa was very experienced and knowledgeable. Made my friends and I feel welcomed. Translated all instructions in English for us so we were aware of all extra fees. The actual mud bath is pretty small compared to what we thought it would be. It was definitely something to experience.

    Enjoyable time

Meeting location was confusing but the rest of the trip was great Bring cash because the added features of the volcano aren’t really optional

The bus ride was great and very comfortable also the guide yeniffer was amazing and very sweet. The snack was great and not too much. The natives at the volcano where also great they where nice and helpful. The best part of the trip was the beach we stopped at for lunch it was so relaxing and no vendors or beggers was there bothering us. And the lunch was so delicious I had the fish and it was amazing.in all I'm glad I picked this one because it was well worth the money great trip

Keep your valuables with you .....Beware!!
    Tiffany_O, Oct 2023
As many of the other reviews state you are hassled by all the people wanting you to tip them. While I understand their perspective, I think there should be a system in place to keep tourist feeling safe and not pressured to tip EVERYONE. The mud was great however, I would not recommend getting it in your hair (real or fake). The mud left a horrible black coating in my hair. Now onto the horror of the day. After the volcano we were bussed to the beach for a nice lunch and beach time. After our arrival the bus was switched out with our items on the old bus our AirPods were stolen and hat missing they returned the hat the next day. I took off stars because they did not accept responsibility for the AirPods. I wouldn't recommend this tour as we were told the items would be safe on the bus but were not. They blamed other patrons.
    Response from Host, Oct 2023
Hello, how are you? Thank you for your comment. Regarding the AirPods, you should keep in mind that you notified us of this loss days after the activity. We secured all forgotten objects. On the same day, other clients left cell phone chargers and sandals, everything. was returned, as we also returned your hat, we did not find your AirPods, what you were informed was that perhaps you had left them somewhere else and that you should keep in mind that this is an activity that is not private, perhaps some Another person has taken them due to distraction or mistake, however it is a shame that this happened to you, I apologize in advance for the inconvenience
    Good overall

This mud bath was a very unique experience and would recommend to anyone who has an extra excursion day in Cartagena. Much of details could have been better communicated but we were overall well take care of. Our condo was not listed as an available option for hotel pick-up and we were told me instead meet up with the guides at 8 AM in the walled city. We then spent the next hour and half picking up everyone else around Cartagena and drove past our condo multiple times - looks like we could have been picked up in locations much closer to our condo but this was not clearly explained in the listing. We started heading towards the volcano around 930AM and were provided guidance on tipping instructions before getting off. We thankfully had sufficient cash, but wish we were provided this guidance in writing before the tour so that we could plan how much cash we should exactly pull or try to spend before this excursion. The mud volcano was pretty much as advertised - I knew from prior research that they will be aggressive about receiving tips for holding your phone and bathing you and make it seem like you have no other option. They will start massaging you in the mud right away, bathing you in the lake right away, and tell you to take off your shoes at the lake so that they can clean them for you, then will demand for tips on each “service” after. The photos taken in the mud aren’t amazing, and if you’re coming with a someone else you’d be better off taking turns holding the camera. But like I said they make it seem like you have no other option so you just have to be very assertive when denying additional “services.” You are definitely at a disadvantage if you are not a Spanish speaker, but the guide did a decent job keeping us in the loop for the most part. After the tour we were taken to a resort-like venue located halfway to the city. It was quite nice with plenty of space and decent meal (fish was much better than the chicken) that was included with the tour package. My biggest complaint is that there was too much down time - I’m not exactly sure why we were sitting around for so long after our meal? The listing is advertised as 6-7 hours but the entire experience was almost 9 hours and we lost our day when we thought we would have some more daylight after getting home. This was overall a good experience, but the communication and advertising could be more clear so that we know what to expect.

Good afternoon, Thank you for your comment, in the reservation you indicate that you pick it up at the clock tower, this is the first pick-up point, in terms of information about the activity I always send all clients everything related to the activity a time you make the reservation or before the activity, so if you were informed, and if you are right, the issue of the natives is a problem that we are working on, thank you very much
    Great Tour
    Jasmyne_L, Sep 2023
Our tour guides Isaac and Nevis were amazing! The entire experience was great with the exception of the way the mud volcano was done. We were FORCED to give our shoes (even water shoes), FORCED to get the massage, and FORCED to get washed off by the women and then when time to give tips, we were yelled at and the locals were even allowed to come on the bus to FORCE us to give them a tip for services we constantly said “NO” to. If these services are going to be FORCED it should be included in the price and the tour operators should give them the tip for all tourist. (Just a suggestion to ensure a smooth transition and respect for the tourist.)
    Response from Host, Sep 2023
Good morning dear, thank you for your comments, however I always send you a message to watsaap or to the TRIPADVISOR chat indicating that if you do not want the service from the natives, you are not OBLIGED to obtain it and just say NO, you simply DO NOT want it and You don't get it
    Mud Bath & Beach Review
    Jasmon_J, Sep 2023
My husband and I really enjoyed the mud volcano along with relaxing at the beach!! I would recommend this tour to all tourists! It was well worth it. The tour guide was fluent in Spanish, but she always translated everything in English for us. She kept all the tourist entertained! I also like how the provided us with a snack and cup of juice before the bath too! Then we had lunch and drinks at the beach! The individual who is over the tour also booked my transportation back to the airport. I really appreciate everyone! Thank you so much for the lifelong memories!!

    An “interesting” day out
    bec_w, Aug 2023
I have very mixed feelings about this tour/experience. There were some great things and not so great things. Vanessa, the guide was lovely and I cannot fault her work. I had read mixed reviews so I kind of knew what to expect. The area around the volcano / mud pit is not appealing and you need to stand in the car park in your swimsuit while waiting. It’s so hot - but if you take anything up like shoes, umbrella, a towel be prepared to pay to get it back. The staff at the volcano need to be paid for - taking photos, massaging you, washing you and anything else they might help you with. I didn’t get washed by the ladies at the lake as I don’t like being touched but the staff still demanded I pay. I understand that it’s their job so I didn’t mind paying. I wish there was somehow the tour companies could work with the staff on site to organise it better. I didn’t know who was getting my money and for doing what. The mud experience itself was not my cup of tea - too many people, but I now have a funny story to tell. After the mud bath, we went to a hotel for lunch. This was delicious. We could swim at a private beach (no vendors) and had a mini dance lesson. Overall, a day of ups and downs. I’ll chalk it up as an “interesting” experience.

    OVERWHELMING AND MONEY HUNGRY
    Breanna_R, Aug 2023
So let me make this clear this company wasn’t the problem. They’re basically just the people that pick you up and drop you to the mud volcano excursion and then provide the food after for you but they’re not the owners and/or workers of the actual mud volcano excursion . So nothing that I’m about to tell you right now is this company’s faulty . For one you have to wait like 2 hours before you actually make it to top of the hill to go in the volcano. The actual volcano itself is very small and crowded and when you get in you have to wait and just watch people stay in for like 5 minutes before they kick you out and take in the next group . While we were in the actual volcano the people that worked there told us that we had to take off our shoes and that we couldn’t go into the volcano with our phones which is understandable so the workers offered to hold our phones to take pictures of us and they said that we could just leave our shoes on the side . By time we were walking down the stairs to rinse off in the water we realized that the workers had our phones and shoes and we kept asking them for it and they said “hold on” . The workers literally looked at me and my friends along with other random tourists and said that they will not give us our phone backs until we give them money for it . So they held onto our shoes and phones until we gave them money for it . Then they charged us for taking pictures on OUR PHONES it’s not like they had a professional photographer or camera there no they charged us for pictures that took of us on our phones so I was genuinely over it . Then we went on our vans and they kept harassing us but luckily the tour guide with this company I think her name was Emiliana or something she was great and told us don’t let them force us into paying them for services that they didn’t give us . So she told our driver to drive off and that was the only way that me and my friends were able to escape the harassment. After that this company took us for food and drinks at the hotel beach club. It was nice they had salsa classes , a live DJ , and good food. The excursion came with two complimentary drinks one alcoholic and the other non alcoholic. After that you have to pay for your own drinks which is fine because the drinks at that beach club was like $4 USD . Again it’s not this company’s fault that the people at the mud volcano are so money hungry but it did effect the experience of it all. I personally wouldn’t ever go back this mud volcano place but I will leave it to you guys to make that judgement with your own experience

    Overall still an interesting experience

We read a lot of reviews online and still decided to go to mud volcano as this is a once in a lifetime experience. Lunch was beyond expectations and we were happy to be able to swim in a private beach after the mud volcano. Do note that EVERY service at the mud volcano will cost you - taking of photos (10k pesos), safekeeping of shoes (5k pesos), massage in mud volcano (10k pesos), cleaning off mud (5k pesos), food and drinks. Collection of money is quite messy and there should be a better system in place. That said, the tour will warn you about these prior to arrival and hence you should bring some spare cash. Nonetheless, it is still a worthwhile experience!

    Good experience but too long
    Shallette_S, Jul 2023
The mud volcano was cool. I enjoyed that and after they offer to rinse you off, for a tip of course. I felt like Prince Akeem lol. However, the day was extremely long. We then got lunch and hung around some pool for a while. I would’ve been happy going to the volcano then returning.

Book this one! It was great.

I’m so glad that I picked this company for my tour. Many of the companies had pricing for 2 or more guests. I was traveling solo on this trip and this is tour took singles. Perfect! It was a pretty large bus and we made many stops picking up passengers along the way (maybe about 10), but once we got there things moved pretty quickly. I’d say the total ride time was an hour 1/2. The walk up the volcano took about 10-15 minutes. Some of the steps toward to top are pretty big. I have a knee injury and I was fine. There are men in the mud bath that will offer to massage you. Personally, I would skip that next time. If you go with someone you can massage each other. In addition to the fee you pay the tour company, each individual thing you do there you will have to pay extra. 10 pesos for the massage, 10 for the ladies to wash the mud off by the river. I quite enjoyed the bathing. You get a lot of mud on you as you can see in the pictures. Your belonging will be kept secure on the bus while you go up the volcano and you’ll pay for your services at the end. Make sure you take cash in small notes and pay your person for the service individually. There was a mixup with payment between two of the guys and it was awkward. Lunch is included and it was actually pretty good! It was a hot buffer with a choice of meats, salad , soup and beverage. I had the fried fish. What I didn’t know was that lunch was being served at a private beach club. At least it was private while we were there. It was just us an another small tour group. Score! Overall, 10 out of 10. Oh, and they gave us snacks on the bus too! I forgot about that.
    Response from Host, Jul 2023
Hello, I love your comment. It was very explanatory and precise. You are right about what you say regarding the people from the Mud Volcano. For all the agencies in Cartagena that offer this activity, it can be challenging to deal with the locals. However, I will take note of this point to inform future clients to bring cash or simply not take those extra services, which are not mandatory. Once again, thank you very much for your comment.

    Kay_L, Jun 2023
This was an amazing experience. Learn Conversational Spanish!! It will really help you because otherwise you'll be lost. Its definitely not a real volcano more like a mud pit but the massage is nice and it does wonders for your skin in the 20-30min you have in there. The beach resort where you have lunch is amazing. The food and drinks are great too. Cons: They hound you for money! you can wear your shoes or keep your phone (they charge 10mil pesos for keeping shoes and phone/photos). The ladies who rinse you off after the mud will charge you 10mil pesos but washing off isnt an option either. The man who massages you also wants 10mil pesos. Each drink at the volcano is 10mil pesos. You have to just get back on the bus and not come off. If you get pictures pay for that but everything else isnt anything you asked for the just do it even if you dont want them to.

    Excellent tour!
    Rachelle_R, Jun 2023
I highly recommend this tour and tour company! They were very organized, punctual, and accommodating. They reached out two days before the tour to tell us everything we would need. The day of the tour, we were picked up at our hotel and transported to the volcano in an air-conditioned charter bus. They gave us breakfast pastries and drinks on the way to the volcano and explained everything we needed to know prior to arrival like cost for extra servicesand what to expect when we got to the volcano. Group instructions were given in Spanish, however, the group leader came to us afterwards to individually give us our instructions in English. We felt very comfortable and everything was exactly as the tour leader explained. After the tour, we were taken to a private resort where we had lunch (delicious!) and stayed a few hours to swim in the pool and had access to the private beach. Everything ran like a well oiled machine. The staff were professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. We had a wonderful time!!!
