Our tour guide, Paige, was outstanding, the food was great at all 4 places( but she was waitressing , picking up our food, taking drink orders and delivering drinks at Poogan's Smokehouse- don't know if they were short-staffed or if she has to do that every time at that restaurant) but the pulled meat sandwich was delicious, the low country boil at port of call was fantastic, the she crab soup at Crab House wonderful, and dessert was quite good. Her tales of early Charleston life were very well done, would recommend to anyone coming to Charleston!

Great tour

Jeff was a great guide, very nice and informative. We were a small group so it was like a personal tour. Good food and lots of history.
Excellent Food Tour

Our tour guide Page Meyer was excellent in share all there was to know about the history of Charleston and where the food originates from. I was truly enlightened by the many stories of past and present that she had to share. Her knowledge of Charleston is exceptional!
Hope you get Page

Page did a wonderful job ferrying us around town. The she crab soup was great. I think that was the best. You can order alcoholic beverages if you wish.
It was good!

The tour guide Page was great! She was very knowledgeable about the history of the city and passionate about the food.
Great Mom and daughter event

The food tour was very well done, the tour guide was extremely knowledge. Memorable moment was walking down Philadelphia alley as we are from that area at home.
She crab soup was our favorite!

Enjoyed the history lessons along with the great food. Our guide, Paige, was awesome. Was pleasantly surprised at the larger portion sizes of the foods we sampled.
Disappointed
Michael_T, Apr 2024
The tour guide was pleasant but no overly friendly or informative. Food selection for the tour was disappointing. The cost for the tour was not justifiable.
Great Tour

The host was amazing and knowledgeable of the local foods in the area and provided and exciting experience.
A little taste of Charleston
Beth_B, Apr 2024
Page was our guide, and she did a great job of combining our food-focused tour with a smattering of the history of Charleston as it relates to food and the history of Charleston itself. I especially appreciated how she did not gloss over some of the sordid details of Charleston's past, ie. slavery and plantations. Instead, she used these facts as talking points to help us remember so we do not repeat the past. She did not try to erase Charleston's history but sought to educate. The tour is a great starting point to explore food in Charleston, with much of what you would expect ie. she crab soup, chicken perloo, bbq and the like.
Fun and great food stops.

We enjoyed the food tour very much. Food was great! Loved the sites in this fine city. Our favorite as you can imagine is the She Crab soup.

Brenda_M, Apr 2024
Paige was excellent in the food choices for us and her history of Charleston,we were disappointed the tour stated on your website we would visit Rainbow Row and The pineapple fountain and Paige informed the group it was a food tour not a residential tour,so that was disappointing, you might want to change the wording on the description of the tour
Enjoyed it

Good tour guide, informative and friendly. I enjoyed the tour and it featured a good variety. This was the most expensive food tour across multiple cities I’ve done and didn’t really feel like it was more food or more expensive food. It was a proper amount of food for a tour but $100 was steep.
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Hey Eric, Super excited you enjoyed the tour and the guide, we have some of the best guides in the city. I do want to mention our tour is actually one of the more affordable one’s in Charleston. Food prices are pretty high in Charleston and there is several hospitality service charges restaurants charge that makes the food get pretty pricey. Thanks!
