Chef Forrest Parker is extremely knowledgeable about the area. He brought the history of Charleston to life! I learned a significant amount regarding Charleston role in the Revolutionary and Civil wars and the influence of the various cultures on the architecture, agriculture, and traditional culinary dishes. He imparted his knowledge with wit and wisdom. We ended our time with the Chef cooking and serving us a delicious 3-course meal with local products that have historic significance to the area. He even shares his recipes and provided helpful cooking tips. I highly recommend this tour!

Our half day with Chef Forrest was the most impactful experience during our trip to the absolutely wonderful city of Charleston. His was tour was filled with incredible stories of the history of Charleston and cuisine woven in throughout. But his lunch was truly remarkable fit for foodies. Not only was it delicious, it was plentiful. A MUST tour when visiting Charleston!

Amazing tour - don’t miss this when in Charleston!

This tour was a wonderful way to kick off our Charleston visit. Chef Forrest beautifully shares his passion for Charleston, its history, its food, and its people. The walking tour took us to several must-sees, but plenty of hidden gems, as well. The meal that was shared after our walk was absolutely incredible. Everything is locally sourced and prepared right in front of the patrons. My husband and I had an incredible time and would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Charleston.
Truly the best experience I have ever had on a tour and the greatest food and the best tour guide!

If You Only Do One Thing While You Are In Charleston

I booked the Undiscovered Charleston Half Day Food, Wine, & History Tour with Cooking Class while on a short weekend trip to Charleston. This by far was one of my best tour experiences ever. Chef Forrest Parker started the day with a two hour walking tour of historic Charleston pointing out its rich history-good and bad. We ended up at our final stop where our cooking adventure began. Let me just say after going through this experience I would recommend you do not eat before this tour and you will certainly not be hungry after it. Although the menu can change with each tour due to the seasonality of produce, the day of our tour we had an amazing chicken bog followed by shrimp and grits-Both were absolutely mouth-watering. Each course was served with a different wine to compliment the dish. The day ended with the masterpiece for any southern sweet lover-bread pudding. Lets just say this involved Krispy Kreme doughnuts, heavy cream, fresh fruit and a lemon curd topping presented on a plate smeared with a toasted marshmallow base-what was not to love. This was an amazing experience and can best be described as a walking history tour with a five-star dining experience. Kudos to the Chef.
Don’t miss it!

Although it was quite cold for this walking tour, Chef Forrest made it well worth it. The history was interesting, the comedy was well timed, the food experience was fantastic! We highly recommend!!
Highlight of our trip!
Christie_W, Feb 2024
This tour was the highlight of our girls' trip to Charleston! Worth every penny. It was fascinating to learn about the city's rich history, but even better to go back and enjoy the cuisine inspired by it. Chef Forrest Parker (aka Gump) took food allergies and aversions very seriously. Nobody felt like they were missing out. The food and beverages were outstanding. Sign me up again!
Best tour in town! Not even kidding!
Amy_A, Feb 2024
Best tour in the city! If you’re looking for history along with AMAZING food, look no further. Forrest is a renowned chef who also knows the city like the back of his hand. He explained every detail to us about what makes Charleston “Charleston”. After the walking tour, he takes you back to his Bistro and demonstrates the most amazing dishes in town. You’ll leave fuller than you thought possible with food, wine, and good memories! Don’t waste your time on any other tour. Thank you Forrest Parker!! We give you two thumbs up, a 10 out of 10, along with a 5 star rating. Thanks for the effort you put into such a fabulous experience!
10/10 Experience!

This is by far the BEST tour I have ever been in. Chef Forrest was extremely knowledgeable and tailored the tour to our questions and interests. He is well entrenched in the southern cuisine culture and can share great secrets. He is extremely passionate about his work and it shows in his food. I he food he prepared was absolutely delicious. I will recommend this tour to anyone that travels to Charleston as it is steeped in history, culinary history and skill as well as fun. During the cooking of the food, Chef Forrest explains the history and use of ingredients. The food that was prepared was absolutely delicious and left no one hungry. This is a small group tour that is well worth every penny!
