    Mike was an expert and shared personal stories that really enhanced the tour. He was a delightful tour guide and we loved the opportunity to see this beautiful place through his eyes.

    Mike Frederick did a fantastic job taking us on a historic walking tour of Charleston. He was extremely knowledgeable about the city’s history, prominent figures, and military operations. He was able to answer our questions and could direct the tour to the topics the participants were most interested in. The tour was fun, easy to walk, and a relaxing history lesson that we will remember. He even went so far as to drive us back to our cars and show us which restaurants were the best in town. We would definitely recommend taking this guided tour - ask for Mike!

    This tour sticks right around the Battery neighborhood. It is easy walking. Tour guide Mike H is very knowledgable of Civil War history in that area. He throws in current history too, as he lives in that neighborhood. The tour lasted about two hours. I thought it was a great tour and I recommend it to all Civil War buffs!

    We had a great time with Mike. He gave a great insiders tour of Charleston and the history of different homes and points of interest. By the end of the tour not only did we learn the history of Charleston, but made a new friend as well!

    Our tour guide, Mike was very knowledgeable and shared all kinds of facts and stories about the area. Being from Charleston, we felt he was really delivering the best possible tour and answered all of our questions about the Civil War Era as well as other city history. He was very accommodating for a couple of people in our group with physical restrictions but still guided us easily through the area. Such a nice guy!! Thanks Mike!

    It was great to have a private tour led by Mike Frederick. He is very knowledgeable and clearly love Charleston and its history. He welcomed questions and provided not just information but context for the information that we most likely couldn't have known otherwise. He was also a great resource for recommendations for restaurants and other activities.

    No info about slavery in this tour

    I specifically chose this tour to learn about slavery (as stated in the title) but sadly the guide provided no information about the dark chapter. The guide was knowledgeable about the civil war dates and history of houses built by slave owners (only acknowledged as planters with no hint of their immense wealth made using slave labor). I wanted an understanding of the authentic history but this tour does not provide that aspect. Luckily, I did find another tour that provided a balanced overview of Charleston's history.

    I wish I had known Susan wanted to know about slavery. The stories about slaves that became free and went on to be very successful against unbelieveable odds are my favorite. I will be sure to include some of those stories in all of my tours going forward.
