What To Expect

Follow a route that takes in some of the historic downtown district’s most elegant mansions and gardens, learning about the architecture of each place as you drive along. Catch the scent of jasmine flowers from deep, shady porches, and pass by rows of bristling palmetto trees.

Get an overview of Charleston’s dramatic history, from long-ago pirate raids to plantations, Revolutionary battles, the Civil War, and Reconstruction. The city was founded in 1670, and Charleston's historic buildings have been meticulously preserved and restored. Guides combine humor with history for a lighthearted experience of Charleston’s atmospheric center.

The tour was definitely not worth $50 a person when it is only an hour and only takes you to one part of the town. Wouldn’t recommend it to others
Love the residential...
Debbie_B, Apr 2024
Love the residential areas! Would have gladly paid more for a 1 1/2 hour tour. Our horse was “Ronald” and that means our guide was excellent. Very knowledgeable. We could tell he loved his topic of Historical Charleston.

Good history. Guide very knowledgeable. Just wasn't a lot to see where we went. Apparently you have a lottery to see which route we would take.
Would do it again, hoping for a different tour route!

Stephen_M, Apr 2024
It was fun to find out that the horses get 2 bottles of beer in the mornin and 2 at night! Glad they are treated right!🍺😋😂 Kidding aside… great ride and our guide was very informative and personable. All around, a fun experience and way to see the Charleston area!
Unnecessary Rudeness
Karen_S, Apr 2024
Driver was arrogant. I asked a question and he rudely embarrassed me in front of my friends, my husband and all of the carriage riders.
Response from Host, Apr 2024

The driver and experience were wonderful. It was Easter morning and they had Easter items painted on the horses. It was so cute. The driver was funny and very informative. We had a great time!
Wonderful!
Kimberly_H, Mar 2024
Truly a wonderful experience! Would do again. Much better than trying to walk around town. And the history lesson was 10/10
Nice ride but our route was a dud.
Natalie_L, Mar 2024
The staff and the wagon ride itself was nice and our tour guide did a good job describing the area we covered. Unfortunately the route we covered (there are numerous routes) had very little n the lines of interesting landmarks. We saw mostly churches and government low income housing .
Response from Host, Apr 2024
