What To Expect

Meet a driver at your Flagstaff hotel for a morning departure, then board a comfortable vehicle for the 178-mile (286-km) trip to Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. The route to the park is a scenic highlight in itself, and you’ll pass views of the San Francisco volcanic field on your way to Navajo Nation.

Pause at the historic Cameron Trading Post, where Navajo, Hopi, and Zuni artists display their work—this is the perfect place to shop for unique souvenirs.

As you travel into the Navajo Nation, you’ll see hogans along the way, the low-roofed traditional dwellings of the Navajo people. Upon arrival at Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, pause for lunch at The View Restaurant, where tall windows make the most of gorgeous desert vistas.

After lunch, continue farther into the park to explore Monument Valley geology and history, with frequent stops to stretch your legs and walk around. Many of the most famous rock formations in Monument Valley line “The Loop,” a 17-mile (23-km) road that winds through the park. As you drive, the guide will share stories about Navajo culture and people, pointing out named rock formations at the edge of the road.

Following your time in Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park begin the return trip to Flagstaff, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.

Going on this adventure with Arizona Tour and Travel was a perfect pick for me. As a solo female traveler I appreciate they offer to pick up their customers. Our tour guide, Stanton, was very well prepared, knowledgeable, well-spoken, passionate about what he does and what kind of memories are we going to take from the whole experience, at points it seem like we have a live radio host with us! Everything else like many stop points, lunch location, snacks, chargers, picture taking just made it better. At the Monument Valley, a Navajo guide drives you around for 90 minutes, which is the part. I want to thank the agency and absolutely recommend them. Nika from Croatia

Breathtaking landscape

First I was very happy there were enough participants for the tour to take place. Seeing Monument Valley was an amazing experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and a safe driver. He was very patient and never rushed us. He just has to be cautious of his audience with his narrative. I am very thankful I took this tour. Enjoyed every place we visited.
Better then average tour guide, otherworldly place

This day tour was fantastic! We enjoyed every minute of our trip - even the time in the van. Our guide was interesting and engaged every traveler. We learned many new things about Monument Valley, got great photos, and spent a day making new friends. Most tours rush you through, but our guide actually extended the trip so we could spend more time in Monument Valley.

This is a DEFINITE tour to take as this Navajo Park is so gorgeous and massive. The Mesas and Buttes along the loop conveys such greatness and you can just feel the Navajo spirit. It is a sacred ground. It's too bad that among some of the areas on the rocks, there are carved graffiti from people who just don't respect the Navajo land. Why do you need to deface such a sacred area? That I thought was the saddest part, otherwise the entire history about the land and actually meeting with the Navajo people was priceless!! Kevin our guide is very knowledgeable and talked to us the entire trip giving us information and even quizzing us to keep us going. The Navajo do sell jewelry, hand made pottery and other beautiful items. Very authentic so don't hesitate to purchase! Was a very long day, BUT worth every minute!!

R J was a character and a joy to spend the day with given his knowledge of the geology, film industry and caring nature. He was full of insight and very patient with my wife who was recovery from surgery. We all hated to see the day come to end.

This tour was excellent! Our tour guide, Sheldon, was a good driver and gave us a lot of good information. We spent a lot of time driving but he gave us a lot of information that made it enjoyable. He stopped frequently to allow us to take plenty of pictures. This was an awesome place to visit.

Excellent experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and explained a lot of the history, pointed out the various rocks, explained about the Navajo Nation, etc. We were VERY glad to have the guide driving around in the valley because the 'road' was just dirt and gravel, not marked at all. We definitely would have taken a wrong turn and ended up lost in the desert!
